SBL Announcing Archive, posted by
Sunday, October 24th 2010
I have uploaded whatever announcing files I've found in case anyone is interested in listening to any of them. Most are Dizzeguy and from season 9, but there are some others including most of MJ's announcing for those that remember that. One I am not sure who it is. If I see any more recordings I will upload them.
Volume and quality varies a lot so you'll probably have to adjust your volume for each file. It is best to download and listen with some audio editor or something that visually shows the track. There can be long pauses you might want to skip. Most recordings are full games but some are not.

Mr. Poo's Pre-Pre-Pre-Pre-Pre-Entrance Tournament Intoxicated Squad Review, posted by Mr. Poo (Retired)
Friday, June 18th 2010
I did this half-drunk at 5 AM, so forgive me if things don't make sense. Hope you enjoy! Here's my Pre-ET analysis of the potential squads and their rankings coming into Season 15.
1) Ragequit
2) Epic Beard Men
3) Deathrow
4) Blueballs
5) Mindrape
6) Nation of Domination
7) Phazorz
8) One Armed Scissor
9) Worldbeaters
Individual Squad Breakdown
-----------------------------------------------
1) RAGEQUIT
Ragequit returns with a full roster this season and a vengeance. Screwed out of the championship match last season, expect them to return full-force this season hell-bent on destroying lesser squads left and right. With a mighty 14 players on their roster, they plan on kicking ass and taking names.
Offense: A-
Their names are whispered only in the shadows. Newbies scatter before this dynamic duo, who lay waste to anything and anyone attempting any inkling of defense in their path. The combined threat of Flash and P is one of the most dangerous forces in the league. However, Flash sometimes has his off days-- although very few, they can put Ragequit in a tricky situation if it's against one of the other top squads.
Mid: A
With the recent addition of Monkey, Ragequit's ball carriers have become a serious threat to any squad attempting to face them. Both Gil and Monkey are a serious threat anywhere on the field, as they are great at any position. Mighty Mouse and Legacy are both prepared and ready to step it at any time as well: defenders, be warned: here there be monsters.
Defense: B
Ragequit has always been a more offense-oriented team, relying more on its ball carrying and scoring ability than keeping their score low. If Soul Tyrant becomes active this season, their defense will be set. Bronco is also going to be a great addition to QQ's defense; Below aka Swag has his on and off days. Regardless, their defense is very strong and has a habit of crushing many offensive teams-- but the loss of Handsy is definitely gonna hurt them.
Goalie: B+
One has recently joined Ragequit as what I would assume to be their starting goalkeeper. However, in reason seasons he has become very inactive and I wonder if he will be active this season. If so, QQ will have one of the league's strongest goalies in the net-- however, will he be rusty from inactivity or will he perform as well as he has in seasons past? Only time will tell. If he is inactive, however, QQ will really be struggling in the goalie department.
2) EPIC BEARD MEN
Epic Beard Men will be returning this season to defend their championship title. With only a few roster changes, this team should be just as strong as it was last season, provided their chemistry stays the same and their players actually show up to matches.
Offense: A-
One of the only roster changes in regards to EBM is the loss of Sahana, the league's reigning offensive MVP, and the addition of Gatusso, well known as one of the league's biggest offensive threats. The combined forces of Darter and Gatusso is enough to make any defender quiver in their panties. However, Gatusso seriously lacked in his performance last season, so hopefully he steps it up and puts up big numbers for EBM.
Mid: A-
No problems here. Apathy and Destroy are both very strong players who, like Gil and Monkey, are able to perform extremely well on any side of the field. Both have a great shot, so look at them to be scoring quite a few goals this season as well. However, sometimes there is a lack of communication and dumb plays/passes end up being made.
Defense: B
Feelucky led the league in pass/fumble ratio last season, so expect him to do the same again this season as one of the squad's top ball carriers. Novella, just like Apathy and Destroy, is decent on any side of the field. However, her internet connection fucks up a lot and forces her to play on low resolution, limiting her ability to perform effectively. If this happens during an important game, it could have a drastic effect on the outcome. Wizard's Hat as well is very capable of defending against most offensive threats. The recent addition of Ribosome should be noted as well, as he's a very capable defender also.
Goalie: N/A
Not available, as, well... it's me. If I'm not available, Feelucky is more than capable of performing in the net.
3) DEATH ROW
Death Row returns this season and is looking stronger than ever. This is definitely going to be ?the? underdog squad this season. Look out for Death Row to pull off quite a few upsets if given the chance. This squad has some insane chemistry (I would know; I played on it before) which gives them a lead over many other squads in this league.
Offense: B
Sahana and Nickmackie reunite and plan on wreaking havoc over many of the lower squads. Sahana is mostly always spot-on; however, Nickmackie hasn't done much in recent seasons-- can he step it up and be a valuable asset to Sahana?
Midfield: B
SV and Mypod (I guess?) will be filling this spot. Both, like the previous mentioned midfields, possess a pretty decent shot and are decent all over the field. Look for Mypod to be scoring some pretty clutch goals.
Defense: A-
Death Row has picked up Chubster, one of the most underrated defensive players in this league. Pair him alongside NukeDukem and you have a pretty unstoppable defensive wall in front of their goalie. However, can Chubster keep up with the chemistry that DR has? Guess we'll find out. Traboski also is a very good all-around player; expect to see him playing defense a few games as well.
Goalie: A
Crazed_Penguin has consistently proved time and time again that he is one of the best goalies in this league. I don't know what they grow in that marijuana, but any squad going against Death Row is gonna have a lot of trouble with the talent they have on their defensive end.
4) MINDRAPE
Mindrape is a new squad formed out of very talented players on all sides of the field. If they can find their chemistry, they should be a pretty big threat to the league. They mix often and well, so expect them to pull a few upsets this season.
Offense: B+
King Donkey and A are both very talented players who can score goals from any angle of the net. Look for KD to return with a vengeance after a sub-par performance last season. However, if one of them has RL issues and cannot show to the game, Mindrape may be in trouble, as their offensive scoring ability ends here (unless you count Moskau, who still thinks he's an offensive player LOL). Nah, apparently Moskau has a pretty sick shot, so watch out for him on offense as well.
Mid: B
No idea who is gonna be beside Staley, but if they can't get the ball up to KD and A, there could potentially be trouble. However, Staley will be the main ball carrier for this team. Keep an eye out for him pushing up to score as well.
Defense: B+
I'm assuming Handsy and Rattle will be the starting defenders. Both are very talented at what they do, so expect them to perform very well together. Thimbasauraus is also an underrated defender who will perform well if given the chance.
Goalie: B+
Hawk is eager and ready for his return as one of the league's top goalies after a sub-par performance by Tainted last season. Look for this guy to put up big numbers and save his squad's butt a few times. Killer3333 is a decent back-up goalie as well, if given the chance.
5) BLUEBALLS
Blue Balls was a squad recently formed by Dizzeguy after noting the lack of many other competitive squads this season. Filled with tons of talent, this team potentially pull off a few upsets.
Offense: B-
I believe the problem with this squad will be its offense. Although it has a ton of capable midfielders who can carry the ball well, the only offensive threat I see on this squad will be Z. Blue Balls will probably need to recruit another offensive player so they can start putting up big numbers. Wine-O could possibly be given the chance to shine on this squad and potentially help them out on their offensive end.
Midfield: A-
This team has a very talented midfield, consisting of Blitzkreig, Mecca, and Dizzeguy-- all three of them are capable of carrying the ball well and stepping up to take shots if necessary. Drek is also a very good stand-in for this position, although he has been inactive in recent seasons.
Defense: B
R and t0wel are I'm assuming going to be the starting defenders (or Blitzkrieg, who will probably step back and play this position as well). R has shown time and time again that he's very capable of defending against many of the league's top players. T0wel has his off days, but is still capable of pulling through and doing well when his team needs him.
Goalie: C
Blue Balls could potentially have a problem with the lack of depth they have in their goalie position. Underoath will need to step it up and really shine in order Blue Balls to win against some of the tougher squads in the league. He will need to work on his clearing ability in order to keep those fumbles to a minimum.
6) NATION OF DOMINATION!
ShadowNNC is bringing back the league's longest-running and most improved squad once against this season to do damage and hopefully win a third championship. However, I simply do not seeing it happen this year, as they've recently lost one of their best players in Desperado.
Offense: B-
SCREAM really stepped it up for NOD last season and returns to do it again this year. However, I do not know who his sidekick will be, but hopefully they will be able to keep up with SCREAM's annoying habit to high-kick everywhere.
Midfield: B-
If Rockmono is active this season, he will be a great help in the middle of the field as well as on offense if needed. Once again, I don't know where players are gonna be, but NOD has always played well with multiple people in multiple positions, so we will see what happens.
Defense: B
The majority of NOD's roster is listed as defense. Hellfire will be very valuable to NOD on the defensive end, as well as Peregrin Took, the most improved player ever, and Mysfire. NOD's problems won't lie in their defense, but in their lack of depth if their starters don't show as well as their offense and mid.
Goalie: A-
ShadowNNC has always been one of the top goalies in the league, and is often overlooked because he doesn't talk much, he just plays. He's always been very consistent time and time again, so look for him to really step it up for NOD once again with many game-saving plays in the net.
7) ONE ARMED SCISSOR
This is going to be an underrated squad this season. Before even looking at their roster, I had ranked them lower than I should have. This squad is full of decent talent and will definitely pull off a few wins this season.
Offense: B-
Ortiz and Cheeseheads both have great shots and are very underrated offensive players. They consistently own me time and time again in the net. However, they're gonna need to work to break through the defenses because chances are, they aren't going to have a clean shot on the net. Value also has the ability to score and will pull through when needed.
Mid: C+
Macheda is another underrated player on this squad who has the ability to score if given the chance. Kurt is gonna need to step it up this season if OAS is gonna have a chance of beating some of the better squads. They're gonna need to work on their chemistry and limit the fumbles as much as possible.
Defense: C
Mode and The Snot are very talented defenders. If The Snot shows, he will be a great asset to this team. Mode, while decent, is gonna really need to work on limiting the fumbles and dumb mistakes.
Goalie: B
ADreamForUs is gonna be a top goalie one day, as long as he doesn't go afk in matches (lol) and as long as he sticks at his position and works on his clearing a bit.
8) PHAZORZ
The whacky team of Brits return once again this season, ready to do business. They have a ton of chemistry and work very well together, but can they beat some of the top squads in the league? They have the ability to keep many of the top squads close in competition, but can never go the distance and actually beat them. Will they have the ability to change that this year? Regardless, this is probably my favorite team, simply because they have so much fun together in vent and it's truly a great experience playing with them.
Offense: B-
With Holby and Indy teaming up on offense, expect this team to score goals, but only if they are playing their A game. They need to learn to check and get people out of the way to open up more lanes as opposed to simply waiting for an opportunity to strike. Holby has his off days as well, and when he's off... he is very off.
Mid: B-
With Tom and Magician in the net, Phazorz should have no problems getting the ball around. Tom currently holds the record for the most passes in a single game with 70. However, Magician needs to limit his fumbles so they can retain possession of the ball longer.
Defense: C-
I do not see many defensive threats on this team. King Marvin and St.Stephen, while very fun to play with, will not be able to hold against the combined duos of Flash/P or Darter and Gatusso.
Goalie: C
Titan X Bomb is relatively decent in the net, but I believe iDefend will be picking up the reins of goalie this season. He's a very underrated goalie and has performed exceedingly well in his first seasons. Hopefully he steps it up this season for the crazy Wankers team.
9) WORLDBEATERS
Led by the very enthusiastic Ownage Inc, Worldbeaters is made up of many players who have a few seasons of experience under their belt. However, are they going to take their captain seriously and mesh as a team, or will their individual egos get in their way and ultimately destroy them?
Offense: C
KrisEuphoria is an egomaniac who will probably ragequit if he doesn't get his way. Everybody is gonna need to watch out for Mang, as he has a very sick shot and WILL be scoring some goals for this team. Dirk Smallwood is also making his return to SBL this year... I thought he was perm-banned. Oh well.
Mid: D
FOFO and Paul I'm guessing will be running this. Paul has to learn to limit his ego and his cry-babyness if he's gonna get anything done this season. He also is gonna need to recruit quite a few more players so he has a guaranteed 7 show up.
Defense: D+
Mexico is an enthusiastic, active player who will do nothing but improve over the course of this season and future seasons. Look for him to be a threat in a few seasons' time.
Goalie: C
Fish Wrangler's a cool guy who will be making his SBL debut this season on Paul's team. Hopefully he stays active as a goalie and sticks at it. He'll be racking up a ton of saves as Worldbeaters get plummeled this season.

Hope you enjoyed! Comments welcome, and now more people have to do reports before I do another one. |

* Week 2
* Who? Predacons .Vs. basic thuganomics
* Gametime : 7:30 PM [eastern]
============================================================
Predacons come into week 2 after a defeat to NOD (7-2). I've picked up a few excuses flying around the forums about not having a starting goalie turning up during week 1 yet they fail to pick up on Resilience- slack, complete trash offensive play for 19 minutes that he played in. He might've been better in goal since 0_6 was playing better offense from a goalie position, not that 0_6 played good anyway since he turned over the ball trying to dribble and seemed pretty clueless in goal. A bright spot is that they did have 10 shots on target but overall they need to play better defense as some of them tend to ball watch or pull away from a good D position trying to chase down the ball carrier.
Predacon Team Prediction:
G: Underoath~
D: Mode, Traboski and Chubster
M: Cartman and Jackrabbit
O: 0_6
Formation: 3-2-1
Previous Results:
(ET) 4-2 win vs NOD, 2-1 win vs TNT, 6-3 defeat vs QQ [ET Final]
(Week 1) 7-2 defeat vs NOD
If Predacon can average the same amount of shots against BT they might score more as mypod is no ShadowNNC, but that is all depending on who plays O for them. The focus point is that Cartman (chris) needs to show up to give them better ball possession while putting in some scary assists to improve the angle and time their offense might have to put the ball in the back of the net. The same is said for a more experienced goalie, if that is not the case come game time then you're fucked in a way that no woman could express.
============================================================
BT are another team moving into week 2 after losing to EMB 6-2. Some of the stats are missing due to KD leaving near enough after the game had ended, from the looks of it they scored 2 out of 6 shots on goal which is not bad but the major focus point for this team is to have Bronco, Delcor or even Kelyn to even this team out because they played far to many offensive minded players during week 1 with only Thimbasaurus Rex putting in a good checking game as the rest got slapped around, I wont go as far as to say they played badly as they had around 40% ball possession but this is a case of to many cocks trying to go down the same hole without much success (queers).
basic thuganomics Team Prediction:
G: myPod
D: Thimbasaurus Rex, Bronco
M: Delcor or Legacy, Staley
O: a, King Donkey
Formation: 2-2-2
Previous Results:
(ET) 4-2 defeat vs QQ
(Week 1) 6-2 defeat vs EBM
BT better show an improved lineup with at least 2 focused defenders in this game to kick start winning ways, if they beat Predacons with only Thimba then I'll point it down to slack offensive from the transformers, if they show 2 without leaking hardly any goals while crushing these tosspots then it proves my point that 2 D is better then one (One in goal would be helpful too) and my supreme tactics in soccer as a manager cannot be matched. . . sidenote: IMPROVE FAGGETS!
============================================================
End Result? This will go down to who shows who but I'm gonna go with. . . . . . . . Predacons victory of around a 2 goal scoreline. 1-3, 2-4, 3-5 etc, you get the point.
============================================================
Side Note: Dont ruin my prediction by being careless on D Predacons! |

ROONEYMANIA Match Prediction: Tainted vs RAGEQUIT, posted by
Thursday, April 1st 2010
ROONEY - FUCKING - MANIA is back to predict weekly records of all that crap that no one wants to read other then what I have to say about who is gonna play and an end result. Well, get stuffed because I'm gonna chat non stop shit about who sucks just about every game to chokers during past matches as the weeks go by.
============================================================
* Season 14
* Week 1
* Who? Tainted .Vs. RAGEQUIT
* Gametime : 10:30 PM [eastern]
============================================================
Tainted Team Prediction:
G: Hawk
D: The Snot, Vanishing and Jedi Legend
M: Mishra and dizzeguy
O: Gatusso
Formation: 3-2-1
Previous Results: (ET) 1-0 Win, 2-1 Defeat
Tainted houses 5 champions from season 13 with 3 of them being in key positions on the field of Hawk, Vanishing and Gatusso. A mjor weakness for this team will be the lack of a good game changing sub, they might get away with swapping Jedi with Nick and switch to a 2-2-2 but then they would be missing cover on D to allow dizz and mishra to focus on helping Gatusso while Snot and Vanishing push to support.
Atm I just dont see them beating RAGEQUIT unless they focus on D and try to steal the win by 1 goal. Lets hope the starters turn up every week or this team is gonna get fucked sideways against other strong teams during the season.
============================================================
RAGEQUIT Team Prediction:
G: Crazed_Penguin
D: Soul Tyrant and NukeDukem
M: Gil and Rattle
O: Flash and P
Formation: 2-2-2
Previous Results: (ET) 4-2 Win, 5-1 Win, 6-3 Win = ET Champions
RAGEQUIT looks strong on paper with player rotation into different positions while having Moskau and Swag coming in on a number of other positions to change the make-up on this team when needed. From the look of it, it seems they can score as many as they leak in so this will come down to CP making a number of clutch saves to keep the numbers down. Strong D might be the only thing to stop this team from giving you a scoreline battering while these guys are typing QQ rather than GG at the end of the game.
I expect RAGEQUIT to beat Tainted in the end but the game will be seen as Tainted D vs RAGEQUIT O for much of the game.
============================================================
End Result? RAGEQUIT victory of around 5-1 against Tainted.
============================================================
Side Note: Look for heavy trash during the aftermath of Week 1 going into Week 2 on what match I focus on.
(Good luck on not sucking fuckers) |

ESBN-HD Updates (Latest: Website Launch), posted by Vanishing
Sunday, March 28th 2010
Going back to using a website this season. I will use one thread and update it when reports are posted.
http://www.esbn-hd.com
There is a twitter widget on the left side which should fill with text. For some reason it seems to work on and off. Hopefully this is a temporary problem. Let me know if you aren't seeing anything come up on the left side. As or right now it just started working again for me after being down several minutes.
If there is anything you want to see done this season suggest it here. |

ESBN Season 14 Pre ET Squad Analysis, posted by

ESBN Season 14 Pre ET Squad Analysis
Hello SBL. I am hoping to keep ESBN active for S14. Videos will be limited due to the time involved, but I plan to do write-ups regularly. Probably won't do anything this long again, but will try to cover a lot of stuff. First up I'm taking a look at the squads for this season and presenting my preseason rankings. I'm doing this late at night and I'm very tired. But hopefully it isn't written too poorly :)
I expect this to be a very competitive season. Rosters are probably more well rounded this season than they have been since SB moved to the new map. I count six fairly strong teams so this should be an exciting season.
Pre ET Rankings
1. RAGEQUIT
RAQEQUIT has the strongest roster on paper, but not by that much. Most of these guys regularly play together so they should have better chemistry than most other squads at the start of the season. A lot of squads I question whether key players are going to be active, but RAGEQUITs roster seems pretty reliable. NukeDukem is the only question mark. If Nuke is inactive Id guess Rattle would play defense and Moskau or Merciless would start.
Predicted Starting Lineup
[G] Crazed_Penguin
[D] Soul Tyrant
[D] NukeDukem
[M] Swag
[M] Rattle
[O] Flash
[O] P
Position Ratings
Goalie: A-
CP is one of the best goalies in the league, but Im not sure his heart is in SB like it used to be? too busy playing MW2 probably, haha. If CP stays focused he will be dominant in net. If not, he may be a little inconsistent. blood cl0t will probably fill in at goalie if CP cant make a game. Im not sure Moskau is even willing to be cover for CP if needed. Id assume the fact they recruited BC means no.
Defense: A-
Soul Tyrant defense is better than anyone else in the league right now. But Im not sure if NukeDukem will be active. While RAQEQUIT should have talented defenders, if the mids dont help them enough it could hurt them.
Midfield: B+
Rattle is one of the most versatile players in the league and his contributions on both offense and defense will be key to this teams success. Swag can either hurt or help this team. If he tries to do too much it could disrupt this team quite a bit. If he works well with his teammates, this duo can do a lot of damage.
Offense: B+
Flash and P are two players who have been top O at their peak, but havent performed quite as well recently. But Im not sure what to expect from them this season. They will be strong for sure, but just how good they will work together on RAGEQUIT is yet to be seen.
2. Tainted
I have put together what I feel is a very strong group of players who will excel playing together. For the most part our chemistry should be really good by a few weeks into the season and we will be difficult to beat when we have everyone show. I have not determined my lineup yet and it will probably change throughout the season, but here is one of a few different possibilities just for the purpose of doing this write up.
Predicted Starting Lineup
[G] Hawk
[D] the $not
[D] Jedi Legend
[M] Vanishing
[M] Dizzeguy
[O] Mishra
[O] Gatusso
Position Ratings
Goalie: A
Hawk was a huge part of Soccer Moms success last season and I hope he keeps it up this season. He made some big mistakes clearing occasionally but his dominating presence in net more than made up for it. Im not sure Mello will be active, but if so he will goalie for us when Hawk cant make it.
Defense: B
the $not and Jedi Legend are both very solid players, but havent really proven themselves yet. I have got a lot of confidence in them and know they will be very tough to beat this season, but for now B seems to be fair.
Midfield: A-
Dizzeguy and I are going to have to perform very well this season on both sides of the ball for Tainted to be successful. I think we can handle it :)
Offense: B+
Originally I expected Mishra to be one of our mids, but we will probably need him to O for us this season. I havent seen Mishra play O enough to really rate him fairly, but Im confident he can get it done for us. Gatusso has a great shot. I havent quite figured it out, but he doesnt seem to ever get as many shots as other top O in the league. Making sure he gets more shots will be key to Tainted scoring enough to keep them on top vs the top teams. NickMackie, if active, should play quite a bit of O for us as well with Mishra moving back to mid. Right now he is busy with school.
3. basic thuganomics
BT rounds at the top three and I do expect these three teams to be the top three at the end of the season. The order of the top three is too close to call and it will be interesting to see how it all plays out. BT has one huge question mark and that is One. If One is active this team is going to be really good. But Im a bit doubtful he will show frequently and they dont really have anyone to cover for him. This could really hurt an otherwise solid team.
I expect them to be the highest scoring team in the league. On the other hand I expect them to give up significantly more goals than the other top squads. A lot of BTs games will likely turn into shootouts this season.
Predicted Starting Lineup
[G] One
[D] Bronco
[D] Thimbasaurus Rex
[M] Legacy
[M] Calipari
[O] a
[O] King Donkey
Position Ratings
Goalie: A-
One is probably the best goalie in the history of SBL. But he hasnt been very active lately and it is not likely he will be as strong as he used to be. If he shows he should be hard to beat, but if he doesnt show BT probably gets a C- or D at goalie. They should really try to find a backup before the season starts.
Defense: B+
Bronco and Thimb are a solid pair of defenders. Lag is an issue for Thimb and it could cause him to sit out some games. I strongly feel two players alone can never successfully defend the entire crease on a regular basis and my main concern here is the mids for BT are too offensive minded. This could be a big issue for them.
Midfield: B
Another solid pair, except they are both likely going to push up a lot. Legacy+Calipari+a+King Donkey is going to be a very scary thought for any defense. But I like my chances going up against this group when my team has possession. One of Legacy/Calipari really needs to focus on playing good defense this season.
Offense: A+
akzel had a great season with Soccer Moms and no reason to think anything different this season. I dont think his lag is as strong as Gatussos or Darters, but he seems to have gotten really good at using (abusing) it to get open looks at the net. King Donkey is a very solid player, but his shot is not as accurate as the other top O in the league. He needs to be more accurate this season, but regardless there is no question this should be the strongest offensive combination in the league this season.
4. Epic Beard Man
EMB has a well rounded roster which leads me to think they deserve to be put before 666. However it is a very tough call as EMB doesnt have many top players on the roster. I dont know if they have practiced much at all together which could hurt them. Looking at their roster I find it very difficult to pick 7 starters and I expect it will take awhile for Destroy to figure their lineup out.
Predicted Starting Lineup
[G] Mr. Poo
[D] r
[D] Drek
[M] Apathy
[M] Destroy
[O] Sahana
[O] Mecca
Position Ratings
Goalie: A
Mr. Poo really stepped it up last season and if he can keep it up, A for sure. But he will have his work cut out for him again with EBM. It helps to have a backup goalie on the roster (beefo).
Defense: B-
I really have no idea who will be rs partner this season, so I just put Dreks name down. Regardless of the D pair, I think they are going to have a tough time stopping RAGEQUIT, Tainted, BT, or 666.
Midfield: B
Destroy is the best field player on this team and he is going to have to be at the top of his game to give Epic Beard Men a shot at cracking the top 3. Apathy is underrated and hopefully will step it up for EBM. Im not sure where they plan to use him through or if he will even start. I would certainly think so and feel he is best suited to mid for this squad, but again I have no idea what Destroy might be thinking in terms on lineup.
Offense: B
Sahana is a given on offense and I would have to assume Mecca will have to play O as well as I dont really see any alternative. Im not really sure how successful these two will be this season. Sahana didnt get to play much the last two seasons, but he should be one of the better Os this season. Sahana+Mecca should be good, but will they be good enough? I dont know.
5. 666
666 is another late attempt by Gil to form a squad. This one doesnt seem to have panned out as well as GnP did a couple seasons ago. I wouldnt be too shocked if Gil fades it in the next couple days. I would guess 666 will stick around as their only big problem is not having a goalie. Well then again you have to wonder if Z, Novella, and maybe even Blitzkrieg will show to many games this season. These reasons could easily keep them from being very successful this season. There are still a lot of very talented players on this squad so hard to rule them out if they recruit 2-3 more players and stay active.
It is also difficult to pick a starting 7 on 666s roster. Im leaving Novella out mostly because I dont think shell be active. But Z is also very unlikely to be active.
Predicted Starting Lineup
[G] SCREAM
[D] Ribosome
[D] Blitzkrieg
[M] Gil
[M] Rien
[O] Darter
[O] Z
Position Ratings
Goalie: C+
If SCREAM is willing to be goalie and is motivated to try and be a solid goalie for 666, it might give 666 a shot to break into the top 3. Otherwise Gambler or someone not yet recruited would probably be their regular goalie I guess.
Defense: B+
I dont know if Blitzkrieg or Rien will play defense. In my opinion it is best with Blitz on D and Rien at mid. Rien will push up too much and 666 will probably need him to help out on offense more anyway. Ribosome is pretty good but still has a lot to learn and I doubt he is going to learn much on this squad. I feel Blitz holds the ball too much and 666 will be better off with more of a passing game. If Blitz focuses on defense and distributes the ball quickly this group should be very successful.
Midfield: B+
Gil used to be the best mid in the league. But he has a ways to go to get back to his peak. Rien also is far from his peak. This midfield could be very strong, or it could be a joke. Time will tell.
Offense: A
If Z is active this is can be an extremely strong offense. I dont expect Z to show to more than a few games and this would force Darter to have to do most of the work on O. If SCREAM does not play goalie, Id guess he will be Darters partner when Z isnt there.
6. Nation of Domination!
NOD should be solid this season, but I dont think they have a shot at finishing higher than 4. They have a decent roster along with a number of big question marks. Will ShadowNNC be their goalie? Currently NOD really needs him in net and as such I will be putting him there in this write up. Also, how often will Desp and Hellfires lag force them to watch from spec? Im guessing pretty frequently.
Im not familiar enough with this squad to really know who will play where. Im just guessing how it might work out here.
Predicted Starting Lineup
[G] ShadowNNC
[D] Lonely Little Kitten
[D] Hellfire!!
[M] Desperado23
[M] Mysfire
[O] Johnny Blaze
[O] ACX
Position Ratings
Goalie: B+
I have not seen ShadowNNC goalie much lately, but hopefully he will return to net this season as it will really help NOD be successful. He used to be one of the best goalies in the league, but it is hard to put him with the likes of Mr. Poo, Hawk, CP, or One right now. Im sure if he regained a strong desire to play goalie and got more active he could return to the top.
Defense: B+
PT used to be pretty good on D. But he isnt very active now so dont know if NOD can count on him. If he is not active Id expect Mysfire or Cyclone to D with Hellfire!!. A couple of seasons ago Hellfire!! was arguably the best defender in the league. However he has gotten a bit rusty and made some big mistakes on D last season. Still very good of course, but not as good as the old Hellfire!!. If Mysfire is on D I might bump this up to an A-.
Midfield: A-
Desperado23 is obviously one of the best mids in the league, but his lag can easily force him to sit out. Luckily Soccer Moms had a lot of depth last season and it wasnt a big deal. But it will hurt NOD a lot. Mysfire is a solid, underrated player and is a key player on NOD this season.
Offense: C+
I have to assume Johnny Blaze will O for NOD. I know very little about ACX, but from what Ive heard Im sure he will start for NOD this season. I just dont know where he will fit in. I cant see the other players I listed playing O, so Im sticking ACX here. Johnny Blaze was inactive this season and Im not sure how faded he has become so Im worried NODs O will be their downfall this season.
7. Predacons
Predacons has a more active roster than NOD and it was a very tough call putting NOD above them. I think 6/7 will be NOD and Predacons but the order could easily go either way. They seem well rounded, but also do not excel at anything. Im not going to say as much about Predacons and the rest of the squads. I just dont know enough about the individual players. Sorry. I will try to watch most games this season and I will be more able to write about all the squads as the season gets underway.
Predicted Starting Lineup
[G] Jk-
[D] Mode
[D] chubster
[M] Traboski
[M] SV
[O] chris
[O] Resilience-
Position Ratings
Goalie: C+
Im not sure if Jk- or Underoath~ is going to be the primarily goalie for this squad. Either way, both of them have a ways to go in net. I like playing with both of them and hope they get a little more consistent.
Defense: B
I havent watched Mode play enough to really get a feel for how good he is on D. chubster is an up and coming D and this season we will find out if he is going to be great or just another average player.
Midfield: B
Fairly mediocre midfield. I havent seen Traboski play enough lately, but he should be relatively solid at mid for predacons.
Offense: B
chris has a pretty bad rep in SBL. I dont see the justification for it. chris and resilience- should be good enough to give Predacons a shot at finishing above NOD
8. Phazors
Phazors has been scrimming a lot and I am glad to see that. This squad could potentially finish above NOD and/or Predacons if they keep practicing so much. I think they will finish 8 though. Phazors have a decent roster, but other than a couple players I dont know them well enough to comment much so Im going to leave it at that.
9. Juke
Juke is back for a third season. While I admire their resilience, they havent really improved enough to move up the rankings. I think anything above 8 is very unlikely, but if Monkey sticks with Juke and is active, who knows.
10. Hope Depot or THE LEGION OF DOOM
No idea what is going on with these two squads, but they are bound to finish at the bottom due to having very little experience. That said developing their skills and sticking around is good for the league so I hope they dont get too discouraged after losing by 20+ points multiple times during the season. |

Games 1 & 2 are done. 3 will come late tonight or tomorrow morning.
Motionbox is about the only place I can upload the whole game without breaking them apart. And their encoding quality as I've stated before is clearly not as good as it used to be. Skip to after the 1:30 mark as Motionbox completely ruins the start of the vids. I think after the beginning they should be ok, but I haven't watched them though. I realize now I should have put the score/timer on the top so it is easier to skip through stuff while seeing the score & time but oh well.

Real Championship Preview!!, posted by
Friday, October 2nd 2009
Season 12 of SBL has finally come to the grand finale!! Oh Well Vs Donkey Punch. Pretty much the two squads everyone thought would be there (With Newts being the third ... everyone else was just kidding themselves :-p)....
So let's see how it stacks out so far this season first before we see who gets the upper hand!!!
Regular Season Results:
Donkey Punch 9 -1 Record // 84 GF (2nd) // 20 GA (1st) // 1 loss too TB in a 4-2 match (Upset)
Oh Well!! ----- 8-2 Record // 87 GF (1st) // 22 GA(2nd) // 2 losses too Donkey Punch (3-2 In OT) and NOD (4-3 Upset win)
Head to Head
Donkey Punch won a thriller 3-2 with the MVP being Sahana. CP led in saves with 6 Moskau had 5.
--------------------
Matchups
--------------------
First matchup will be the Donk offense Vs the OW defense.
Donk D
Handsy (32 Steals / 24 Fumbles / 3 Saves / +15 Rating with 10 points)
Hellfire (23 Steals / 14 Fumbles / 2 Saves / +11 Rating with 6 points)
This defense is versatile and rock solid. This lineup will give you complete players on the back end who will defend the line, rack up steals, and move the ball swiftly and accurately to the mids while also having some offense flair from the back if needed.
OW Offense
Flash(20 Goals / 19 Assists -12 S/F)
P(32 Goals / 18 Assists -12 S/F)
These two players have provided ~50% of the offense for the team and P has come up huge this year as the MVP of the regular season and MVP of his team. Both being only a -12 S/F at offense show that they are pretty deadly with their shots and not prone to bad giveaways. Look for them to take their time and make some space to get off quality shots.
Advantage: OW offense. I want to say the defense but P in his breakout year looks hungry out there and hopefully gets the job done for his team!!! Flash will be his usual accurate self alongside there and they should be able to score ~3 a game vs Donk in what I expect to be a low scoring thrilling series. Plus in the regular season P managed both goals in the 3-2 loss.
-------------------------------
Midfield Matchup
-------------------------------
The midfields stack up strong against each other. Both teams have allstar midfields with the ability to break tackles / make plays / and be defensively responsible. Expect a big battle in this area of the field.
Donkey Mids
Calipari (635 CT / 26 points / -19 S/F)
Rattle (999 CT / 13 points / -1 S/F)
Rattle is one of the best multiposition players in the league which gives him an advantage at mid as he can be counted on for whatever role they need him in the game beit providing offense / ball carrying / or a defensively smart mid. Calipari on the other hand provides a slightly more offensively minded mid who did less ball carrying and had a worse S/F but did produce 3rd in points on the team in both goals and assists and points. Expect this to be a smart combo that will spring the forwards for plays and not give up odd man breaks the other way.
OW Mids
Monkey(1235 CT / 31 points / +7 S/F)
Novella(885 CT / 26 points / -17 S/F)
Novella / P can be interchangeable as mid / O but I believe this season P was playing O and I expect Nov was playing mid then (unless flash was??). Monkey is the big difference maker and like rattle is strong in all aspects. Expect the plays to start and end with monkeys decision making skills on the field. Novella is like calipari in the more offensively minded shooter type mid (although monkey did have more points with his huge 20 assists). The midfield battle will be close as both sides have fantastic mids.
Advantage: Draw. Even money here as there isn't a weak link to pick on.
--------------------------
O vs D
--------------------------
Donk O
King Donkey( 32 Goals / 23 Assists / -56 S/F (rofl))
Destroy (19 Goals / 18 Assists / +2 S/F)
KD is obviously the main shooter in the offense for Donk as he was one of the best in the league for goals and has 96 fumbles on the year of which I'd guess at least 50 were shots :-p. Destroy looks like a more responsible shooter who picks his shots and most have a pretty good shooting percentage this year. This offense is ridiculously strong with both players having previous MVP seasons. (I think.. destroy last year KD year before??)
OW D
Soul Tyrant(33 Steals / 27 Fumbles / 2 Saves / +8 Rating with 10 points)
Nukedukem(23 Steals / 32 Fumbles / 1 Save / -8 Rating with 9 points)
The rock and key cog on defense for OW will be ST who is stellar on defense. Nuke has proven to be pretty reliable as well back there and will provide a good complement to ST. This team was 2nd in the league for GA so you know this combo works!
Advantage: Two MVPS upfront for Donkey gives them an advantage.
--------------------------
Goaltending
--------------------------
Crazed Penguin (36 Saves / 22 GAA for team / +14 rating / 1 point / +34 S/F)
Moskau (33 Saves / 20 GAA for team / +13 Rating / 2 Points / +27 S/F)
Head to head the NOD has to go to CP. He has more experience and some amazing clutch saves with a slight stat advantage on Moskau this year. That being said moskau had a fantastic year this year and his team had the least goals against them. Both of these goalies are difference makers with the ability to steal a game for their team. Don't expect more then 5 goals scored against iether guy (if that probably 3-2 type games unless someone really blows it..)
Advantage: For this season would be moskau, but CP wins it for OW with a slight advantage overall with his experience.
-----------------------------
Conclusion
-----------------------------
Both teams are stacked with Donkey Punch loaded up with Gardener players who won last year looking for a 2nd win (and some having been on NOD looking for a 3rd in a row). However IMO OW is the hungrier team (despite the name) and P has been huge this year. I wouldn't ever bet against a team that has Monkey / CP on it either. These matches should be fantastically entertaining (dizz please announce!!!!) and I expect this to go to a 3rd deciding game.
Winner: OW wins 2-4 / 3-2 / 5-3 scores.
MVP: C_P
-----------------------------------------------
Good luck to both teams!!!

Playoff Preview!!! As promised only 7489 hours late, posted by
Saturday, September 19th 2009
Here it is !! The much awaited playoff preview...
NOD > ALL!!
Roses are red
Violets are blue
Nod is the tops!!!
And the jokes on you!!!
(See... NOD all .. and a poem about flowers I did not lie)
Game 1:
Donkey Punch Vs Wankers
This game places the best regular season team vs #8 in a matchup that could end in a blowout but I feel Wankers will come out hard and should keep the score respectable. I mean realistically it's very unlikely wankers can get the upset but if Mr. Poo plays fantastic and frustrates the Donk crew they may get some chances!
I won't be doing predicted lineups because who cares.. everyone knows who plays what mostly. I will be doing matches and predictions for each match that I think will prove the outcome.
Match#1
Donkey Punch Vs Wankers
Key Matchup: King Donkey Vs Poo + Wanker D
Silencing KD will be a huge factor in this game. He will get shots off and Poo is going to have to be up to the task to keep him off the board. If Mode and co can keep the shots to the outside to give Poo a chance he should be able to keep the score under 5. If Poo lets in any sort of weak goals this game expect it to be over quick and painfully for wankers.
Wankers Key Players: Tom / Mr. Poo / Holby. Tom will have to keep his squad under control this game. They will need to play a possesion game to keep the ball out of the hands of Donk players and Tom will be a key factor in this. Mr. Poo will need to play great and Holby is going to have to make something happen up front against the very very stingy Defense that Donk has.
Donkey Punch Key Players: Destroy / Calipari. I feel that wankers will key in on KD (Which they should) and the other stars on the field upfront and at mid are going to get their chances because of this. Expect Destroy or staley to get the plays and shots off that could determine this game.
Strategy: (All IMOO) Wankers will need to play very tight on defense. No CPing goals and no quick giveaways as they cannot afford to spot the other team any goals. The defense should have two on the line at all times and in position while the mids will have to play tight as well to prevent any odd man breaks. I also expect the points to have to come from the mids of wankers if they expect to win as the Donk defense won't give their O many chances but the Mids may sneak in. For Donkey Punch it will simply be a matter of get your guys on the field and keep ball control and plays moving quickly as they do have a superior lineup. Wankers play smart!
Player of the Match: Destroy
Final Score: 5-1 Donkey Punch wins.
X-Factor:Mr. Poo. Takes some steroids and completely dominates in G :-).
MATCH #2!!!!
Oh Well Vs Super Friends.
Key Matchup #1: P vs Thimb / SV
P has proven to be a force this year and IMO is the seasons MVP (see vote thread and please vote!). SV and Thimb on D are going to be the key issue here as I feel their Defense is stronger then their goaltending (No knock on JK who is a good goalie). If those two play smart back there and work together well they should be able to keep the game close. P will need to make some slick plays if he wants to get the good shots of and I expect this game that he'll end up being the setup man on most plays.
Key Matchup #2: Midfield battle.
If Monkey shows which seems to be likely this season, he can take over the whole game with smart ball control, good ball movement, and smart defensive positioning. On the other hand the mids of SF (Mecca / Wiz / SV / whoever they put there) will need to try to be equal to that task of playing the same type of smart ball control game without giving up opportunities back.
SF Key Players: SV / Thimb / Mecca
Mecca will need to prove that he can help a team elevate it's play to the next level. I've personally been disappointed with SF this year and losing KJ/Trab did not help their team at all. As much as I like cheering for these guys they always seem to fall into the same place every year. SV / Thimb will need to be dynamite on the backend and setup every play as I feel their mids will be pressured hard.
OW Key Players: Monkey. It's all they need IMO. If he shows I'd consider this game to be in the wraps simply based on the length of time his side will have the ball in their control with him on the field. If he doesn't show OW is still incredibly strong but those are huge monkey sized shoes to fill if he doesnt.
Strategy: I expect OW to put on good ball pressure as they do have a stronger lineup. SF will have the same issue they've always had with mids fumbling and bad passing and ball control in their midfield area. Offensively/Defensively they are a good team and so to win this match they will need the mids to make the smart plays with good support. Expect the team to play tight together with smart simple outside passes around looking for the breaks to get Resi his shots up front. If they don't the plays will be broken up and OW will walk away with this one.
MVP of match: Novella
Final Score: 6-2 OW wins and moves on.
X-Factor: Mecca. Play big or go home.
MATCH #3
NOD Vs Newts
IMO and not because I'm on NOD, this is the match to watch in the playoffs. Simply because last season a weaker NOD lineup squeaked out a win in the playoffs vs a much stronger Newts lineup (Granted missing 3 key players but still a stronger lineup then NOD had). Add to that Desperado is on the wrong team now and they played in the final match of the season and you have a violent rubber match setup here with both sides wanting the win.
Key Matchup#1: NEWTS lineup! I know this is odd to say but really Newts could field a fantastic lineup with Rock / Desp / Darter / One / Delcor / Bronco / R / Legacy (pick 7) on the field. However each week it seems someone has lag issues, someone doesn't show, and someone is pussy whipped (I'm just guessing on the 3rd :P). If Newts has to field a weaker lineup then their top players like last season NOD will be ready to jump all over it and keep it a tight game.
Key Matchup#2: PT vs Desperado. PT is the main ball handler on NOD and Desperado is likely one of the goto guys on Newts. Their play defensively and offensively dictates how well their respective team does. IMO whoever has the better game will likely end up leading their side to victory. (**Note Desperado can be substituted for Delcor in this situation and the matchup would be the same, if both show NOD probably gets owned :P).
NOD Key players: Shadow / PT / Cyclone
Shadow will be a steady calming influence on our squad as he always is and he will need to dictate a system that will allow the team to win. Cyclone will need to play a smart game back there as he has the skills to be a strong defender but tends to play up a bit more then he should (as most D's in the league do at the start .. I know I still do it :(). PT as mentioned has the ability to elevate the team and bring them to victory.
Newts Key players: Delcor/Desperado/Darter/One. Show up. Without lag. End of story. If those 4 are there and the regulars (Bronco / R / legacy / Rock) show the lineup will devastate NOD at midfield and expect the ball control to sit about 70 / 30 in favor of newts.
Strategy: NOD's D (I will not be there) will have to play very passively to win this one. The offense has struggled this season and to compensate NOD cannot afford to give away freebies to Newts. This means no CPing goals / lob goals / breakaways for Darter and no easy 2 on 1's as those will get buried (even though Shadow has been back to form this year much more then last) the shooters on Newts are just too strong to let them have their way. The match last week showed that when NOD was set on D there wasn't much given as most of Newts goals came from fast breaks and bad giveaways. With PT on the field there should be less issues here and thsi game could be close. Newts on the other hand should key up a high pressure game that forces NOD players to make quick choices and fast passes that will likely end up in a high turnover rate.
MVP of Match: Bronco
Final Score: 4-2 Newts wins
X-Factor: The lineups either team will have. Neither side ever shows the same lineup to a match.
Match #4
Big Dicks Vs Team Brazil
This match intrigues me simply because BD has revamped over the season with high turnover and maybe wouldn't have been so high in the standings if the lineup they have now was the full season lineup. TB on the other hand has a couple guys they rely on heavily that need to show for them to make a go of it.
Key Matchup: Tx Falcon Vs Mello
IMO the only matchup that matters. Whichever goalie plays better wins. I'd almost guarantee it in this match because both sides will have some shots and both sides will get chances for and against.
TB Key Players: TX Falcon / Red Stripe / Gatusso. A little of everything for TB. TX needs to show for this to even be a match. Gatusso will have to show for the offense to click as he's a field leader, and Red Stripe is their most underrated player (as most TB players will tell u ) and provides a steady player to complement Jello on the backend.
BD Key Players: Mello / A / Vanishing. Same with TX, Mello needs to show to this match to give his team a shot. Neither team is in a position to play a backup goalie and feel as confident as they would with the starters they should have. A is really the only scoring threat that BD has and he will need to make a difference. On the backend Vanishing will have to play strong to carry some of their weaker players.
Strategy: TB simply needs to shutdown A IMO. If he's pressured constantly there aren't alot of secondary scoring threats from the BD lineup. If they concentrate defensively on him and attack the weak side D (whichever side Vanishing isn't) they should get the scoring chances they need. For BD it will be the power of the midfield with Dizz/Swag needing to dictate the play and keep their guys under control. Those two will also need to find some scoring chances of their own as A can't be expected to do it all by himself. If they hold onto the ball and make the smart plays BD can win this.
Final Score: TB 4-3 wins.
MVP of Match: TX falcon
X Factor: Blitz shows up and gives a much easier match for TB. |

ESBN SBDL Draft Scorecard, posted by
Thursday, August 20th 2009
ESBN SBDL Draft Scorecard
The SBDL draft went well and we ended up with 6 competitive teams. My biggest surprise was how early goalies were taken. If I had been a captain, I'd have waited a few rounds to pick up a goalie because there were plenty of good goalies to go around and less top talent at the other positions. Mode is the only one who waited and should probably have held off another couple rounds and as Rattle said picked up Delcor (or another great field player).
Here is my take on how the draft went down team by team and yes I am going to be biased here because I was picked early at the draft and had a lot of input on my teams picks. Starting lineups are going to be the first 7 picks and my guesses as to positions.
Hawk
Overall: A
Starting Lineup:
G - Hawk
D - Red Stripe
D - Vanishing
M - Monkey
M - Below
O - Sahana
O - Rattle
Top 3 Backups:
Excess
Apathy
Vinci (traction)
Hawk seemed to have a lot of the same ideas as I had as far as picks. Active players are the key to the SBDL. Monkey is the biggest question for me as far as being active, but he has shown well to SBL this season and hopefully will be able to make SBDL games during the week. I believe our team name will be utility and we have a lot of players who can play every position in the game very well. Red Stripe, Rattle, and myself have been known to play anywhere on the field thought I feel the above lineup is strongest. Rattle and Red Stripe could possibly swap without affecting much, but I imagine this is the way it will go down.
Drek
Overall: B+
Starting Lineup:
G - Moskau
D - Drek
D - SV
M - Delcor
M - Wizard's Hat
O - P
O - Rockmono
Top 3 Backups:
NickMackie
blood clot
Finch
This team has a lot of chemistry, but doesn't quite have as solid of a lineup as Hawk's team. If Delcor doesn't show this team will be hurt, but still be pretty solid. I'd except Rock to move to M and NickMackie to fill in at O. This team has a lot of people on the bench who should be able to come in at any time and keep their team in the game. Expect P to spec before any losses and claim P/Moskau are undefeated.
NukeDukem
Overall: B
Starting Lineup:
G - Crazed_Penguin
D - Peregrin Took
D - NukeDukem
M - Mecca
M - MyPod
O - Legacy
O - Gatusso
Top 3 Backups:
Kurt
KaB00m
Minotauro
Although I feel Nuke took some players at the wrong time, he still has a pretty solid team. He has no shortage of forwards on this team. The key to Nuke's team is going to be how well the midfield plays. This team has the potential to blow some teams out if they work the ball well on O, but I don't think they will be able to last until the finals unless CP is on fire.
Scream
Overall: B
Starting Lineup:
G - ShadowNNC
D - Jello
D - Thimbasaurus Rex
M - Merciless
M - MysFire
O - Scream
O - Staley
Top 3 Backups:
Prince
t0wel
Gambler
I was going to put Scream lower but after looking at the lineups, I think this team is more well rounded than I had throught. As long as ShadowNNC keeps it together, this team shouldn't ever have more than 3 goals against them. However, ShadowNNC hasn't been playing as well as he has in the past. The mids are solid on D, but will have to step up on O and make some plays to keep Scream's team from getting knocked out.
Mode
Overall: B-
Starting Lineup:
G - Mr. Poo
D - Hellfire
D - r
M - Dizzeguy
M - Mode
O - Holby
O - King Donkey
Top 3 Backups:
Tom
Jedi Legend
Water
Mode's squad falls simply because I have a feeling they have some players who might not be able to show regularly. Waiting on Mr. Poo could have made a big difference as they could have picked up another top player. If Hellfire doesn't show, hopefully Water will make it and can fill in at D. I see a big burden being on King Donkey. If he plays well they will be in the game. If he is off, its going to be hard for this team to win. There are some strong players ready fill in if needed.
Kelyn
Overall: C+
Starting Lineup:
G - One
D - Kelyn
D - Bronco
M - Traboski
M - Hop
O - Mishra
O - Resilence
Top 3 Backups:
ortiz
Terminator
Ribosome
Kelyn's team had the least success in the draft in my opinion and is going to be one of the first knocked out. I think picking first might have hurt as he didn't get to make a 2nd pick until the 12th spot. This team has some solid players for sure, but is lacking in some areas. I don't see this team gaining much chemistry in time to keep themselves in this. But they should be able to keep games close and maybe pull off some wins. Ortiz is one of the strongest backups chosen and should be able to fill in well at O or M if needed.
Biggest Steals
Legacy - If Legacy is active, this is a major steal down with the 32nd pick. Personally I wasn't sure if he'd be active enough.
r - Good d that is quite active and I would expect to make most, if not all games. Wasn't expecting r to fall all the way down to 26.
Rattle - Rattle is a steal at 16. I was surprised no one picked him up earlier.
Red Stripe - Yes another on my team. Very active and is solid anywhere.
Hop - Solid pick at 36.
Water - If water is active in SBDL... |

MysFires Fearless breakdown/Predictions!, posted by
Friday, June 12th 2009
Once again I will waste my time bored at work to bring to you all my wonderful (and last season very accurate) predictions!!
This season features another set of 12 teams which is surprising because we have another entirely new team coming in... seems like some players have faded out and gone to other places or we should have 13-14 teams in this league. The only returning teams this season are Deflect / Newts / NOD and NOD has completely been rebuilt with almost the entire core leaving to play for Team Brasil.
By the end of the season I predict the squad ranks to end up something like:
#1 Donkey Punch
#2 Newts
#3 Oh Well
#4 Big Dicks
#5 Team Brasil
#6 Super Friends
#7 NOD
#8 Juke
#9 Wankers
#10 Dirty Prostitutes
#11 Deflect
#12 Grav Trotters
Which ironically enough after checking is almost dead on to the overall site predictions. (For the record I made my list and then checked ... and last season my list was not anywhere near the same as the list voted on by everyone so hah!)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Breakdowns of each Squad
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
#1 -- Donkey Punch
Donkey Punch is basically Gardeners replacing some of their good players with other good players..and all of their benchers with other benchers. Basically if you take Novella / MV / Mecca, stir in some vodka, shake it all about, do the hokey pokey, and then throw them back on the table you end up with Handsy / Rattle / Gil / Destroy. Basically now you have Gardeners on steroids.
Offense: *****/5 (King Donkey / Meep / NickMackie with Gil / Staley / Destroy / Sahana passing to them... count this as a high scoring team... ET Means nothing)
Midfield: *****/5 (Staley / Gil / Rattle with Sahana backing them up... Gil + Staley is a great duo)
Defense: *****/5 (Handsy / Hellfire / Rattle with towel backup. Three quality guys with a fairly experienced bencher... again top notch)
Goalie: ****/5 (The weak link .. again.. for this team.. Moskau is good.. in fact I've seen him be extremely great.. .but can he do the whole season consistently vs top notch opponents.. and who backs him up if he doesn't show? Most of the players on the team can G (Rattle comes to mind) but that takes a quality player of the field... Also I guess they have Ronin (drift?) who is listed as a goalie)
Bench:*****/5 (NickMackie / Drekk / Towel / Sahana / heck.. you could even see handsy as a bencher with Rattle / HF on the field... and handsy is a top D man... .. this bench could be it's own team starting somewhere and easily make the playoffs.. easily the best bench in the league)
Chemistry: *****/5 (As I said.. take gardeners.. add steoroids.. you have this team..)
Total: 29/30
Top Goal Scorer: King Donkey
Top Assists: Gil
Top Points: King Donkey
Most Saves: Moskau
Most Improved: Uh.. ..ya improve .. Sahana IMO will get some huge props this year.
Surprise Player: Moskau .... for good or bad he's gonna be it for the #1 team this year
MVP: King Donkey
End of Season Record: 11-0 to 9-2 (Leaning more towards the 11-0 / 10-1 record though)
End of Season Goals For: 1st
End of Season Goals Against: 1st
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
#2 -- Newts
Newts makes it's return for season 12 with a couple notable roster changes. Destroy has left for Gardeners *cough* er.. I mean Donkey Punch... however he is replaced by one of the best mids in the game, Desperado. With Delcor/Desp/Darter/One/Bronco/R/Legacy/ and a roster large enough to almost field 3 teams.. Newts will be a powerhouse squad.
Offense: *****/5 (This will be another big goal scoring team.. Darter / Mypod/ Legacy will lead the way for this team with Desperado / Delcor / Bronco adding in some help from the middle)
Midfield: *****/5 (Delcor and Desp together? Not only will people be rolling over dying everywhere... the bouncethroughcheckability of these two will have people frustrated to no ends!!)
Defense: ****/5 (Bronco can bring it and did all last season... R however seemed to struggle (28 steals / 58 fumbles.. terrible stats if he was D all year. ..)
Goalie: ****/5 (With One the man this year in net.. their goaltending will be a lot stronger then last year (no offense to mello))
Bench: ***/5 (Average at best... I counted about 8-9 starting great quality players and it drops off after that.. lots of developing talent on the team though!)
Chemistry: *****/5 (Wash rinse and repeat last year boys.. and this time have delcor/darter play and show to the final! .. won't take much for desp to get a feel for his new team)
Total: 26/30
Top Goal Scorer: Darter
Top Assists: Desperado
Most Points: Darter
Most Saves: One
Most Improved: r ( Will need to improve on last year.... but I'm pretty sure R will step it up this year and play huge)
Surprise Player: Legacy
MVP: Desperado (Although Darter will prob get it for points)
End of Season Record: 10-1 to 8-3
End of season goals for: 2
End of season goals against: 3
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
#3 -- Oh Well
Oh well comes out with a name that sounds like they were too bored to think of a real name... ..however OW << makes me think of ow (Ouch .. owwie.. ouchie.. etc..) so at least they are in pain for it. This team comes out of the ashes of backlash.. sort of and should be a top team and already has ET under their belt (although isn't there an ET curse of somesorts???)
Offense: ****/5( Terwin and Excess lead the charge with P / Monkey / Novella backing them up.. actually a very interchangeable offense and midfield)
Midfield: ****/5 ( After seeing P play last season I've a lot more respect for him .. a quality mid (or O as he's listed..) playing with novella who also bring a quality full field player to the team (If monkey is planning on playing and showing. .5 stars)
Defense: ****/5 ( Although IMO no superstars on defense for this team.. merc/nuke/rien/ST are all good players and the depth they have on D will allow them to rotate out players who are having bad days)
Goaltending: *****/5(CP is the #1 goalie in the league IMO. His reads are ridiculous. With Gel as a backup this team will not have problems keeping balls out of their net .. look for CP to steal a win for them here and there)
Bench: **/5( Not really a bench on this squad... really with monkey being inactive.. they have gel / nuke / excess... good players.. but not enough of a bench to support the team)
Chemistry: *****/5 ( A few of these players come from BL and they've scrimmed quite a lot already.. plus ET shows they know how to get the job done (But ET counts for not a lot))
Total: 24/30
Top Goal Scorer: Flash
Top Assists: P
Top Points: P
Most Saves: C_P
Most Improved: Rien (Gonna need to shake off some rust here..expect his later season stats to be much improved from the start of the year)
Surprise player: P (In a good way.. I expect P to be HUGE this year)
MVP: C_P
End of Season Record: 10-1 to 8-3
End of Season Goals For: 4
End of Season Goals against: 2
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
#4 -- Big Dicks
Obviously with a name like Big Dicks there is a lot of penis issues with this team that don't need to be addressed. I'd guess 75% of the population of this team are average or less! ;-) That being said this is a pretty offensively powered team but goaltending and defense may turn into issues for them! Expect to see a lot of back and forth action with these guys.
Offense: ****/5 (Z / 06/ A lead the charge for a powerful but laggy offense. Good shots can be made from any of those players and they will get chances from the likes of below/mecca/dizz setting them up)
Midfield:****/5 (Below is a capable ball handler and dizz is a passing genius, these two should complement each other well. Mecca and Vanishing also bring smart players into the mix)
Defense: ***/5 (I feel defense is a weak spot on this team. Wheel is up and coming as is yoshi.. Scream / DH are listed as D but will DH make all the games and will scream play a defensive role when he's usually a offensively minded player... Vanishing / Mecca can be used back here as well...)
Goaltending: ***/5 (No real backup for Mello and mello tends to have a few off nights here and there.. not of the same caliber as CP/One/Shadow)
Bench: ****/5 (The bench for this team is actually pretty good with 10-11 players who could start on the team and some newer talent to back that up.. one of the better benches in the league)
Chemistry: ****/5( I haven't seen them scrim a lot so far (maybe they do and I miss them) and it seems like they grabbed players from everywhere.. will take some time to gel)
Total: 22/30
Top Goal Scorer: Z
Top Assists: Dizz
Top Points: Z
Most Saves: Mello
Most Improved: Wheel
Surprise Player: Mecca (Gonna have to be a big factor for this team in whatever role used)
MVP: Z
Season record: 9-2 to 7-4
Goals for: 3
Goals Against: 5
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
#5 -- Team Brasil
Team Brasil is a large part of NOD (3 starters) splitting off to make their own squad. Expect some chemistry as most of these guys have played together before (4 starters have been on NOD in the last two years). Throw in some newer talent and you'll have a competitive squad but not of the caliber as the top 3.
Offense:****/5(Rockmono will likely O for the team with Gatusso. Gatusso has some crazy shots that he gets off and Rockmono hits corners with the best of them (and on 0RRU on KB.. WTF man...). Should get some good goals out of this team)
Midfield:****/5(A strong midfield with Mishra/ortiz leading the way. Mishra is a very sound defensive mid who makes smart plays, while ortiz tries to be a juke master (and gets away with it with crazy desperado like bounces))
Defense:****/5(To round out the team.. the defense on this team is pretty good with Jello and Red Stripe backed up by nade. Jello will be out to prove he can play on a competitive team)
Goaltending:****4/5(Hawk finally gets his starting job that he's earned and deserves. Expect a big splash from hawk this year with BC as a capable backup)
Bench:**/5(No real bench with only a couple offensively minded (and fumble prone) players to backup the starters...real weak spot for a team that had trouble getting everyone they wanted)
Chemistry:****/5(Big part of NOD last year starting again so they should be pretty gelled up. Add a little oil with the new guys and the kinks will be gone quick)
Total: 22/30
Most Goals: Rockmono
Most Assists: Mishra
Most Points: Rockmono
Most Saves: Hawk
Most Improved: Titan X (if he plays a buncH)
Surprise Player: Hawk (Good luck TX!!)
MVP: Hawk
End of Season Record: 7-4 to 6-5
Goals For: 5
Goals Against: 4
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
#6 -- Super Friends
Wooo.. another theme team.. look what the mexicans started *sigh* Please be the last year of stupid alias changed names. This is basically the good from Inc/DR mixed together to make a super squad!! Yay!!! Although there is talent on this team expect them to be a mid level team again fighting with Team Brasil and possibly NOD (unlikely though) for the 5-7 spots. I don't feel like researching everyone on the team.. but I know we have thimb/SV/Trab/KJ/Apple/Resi/Feel/Touk/Wiz.. Expect consistency to be the only real issue on this team.
Offense: ***/5(Resi proved last year he is a top goal scorer.. but after that I don't really know who they have on O (Feel/Touk?) Resi seems to be the only true sniper on the team)
Midfield:****/5(Traboski has proven he can move from D to mid easily and KJ is one of the most underrated unnoticed players in the game... Feel is also a good player to put in this position, Wiz also adds some flavor to this spot)
Defense: ****/5(A very strong point of this team IMO, you have Thimb/SV who are both quality D backed up by Trab/KJ who are also quality players back there.. as well as Sutor+ (who has lag / attendance issues)
Goaltending: ***/5(Apple was good for the one year he played.. will he be back to form? and who the fuck is aquaman....)
Bench:***/5(This team has a decent bench with approx 10 players who could start in their lineup.. a very balanced team)
Chemistry:****/5(These MOFO's ruin pub almost daily with scrims and they've all basically either played together or had one of the better rivalries going on in the past two years (inc/DR))
Total: 21/30
Top Goals: Resi
Top Assists: Trab
Top Points: Resi
Most Saves: Apple
Surprise Player: KJ
Most Improved: Toukinup
MVP: Apple
End of Season Record: 7-4 to 5-6
Goals for: 6
Goals Against: 7
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
#7 -- NOD
NOD is back.. and playing under the name "Team Brasil". Consider NOD this year to be rebuilding under the continued leadership of ShadowNNC. Only 4 players remain from last year, and only three were starters. (PT/Shad/Turtle/MysFire). Expect some goal scoring issues for this team but Shadow will hold them to be defensively responsible and sound and should be a harder team to get goals on.
Offense:***/5(Kaboom only has one season under his belt and turtle will be starting for the first time.. should be a fun year for the the two.. plus expect others to get even playtime up front (I'm not actually sure who plays where yet on this team lol)
Midfield:****/5(PT has moved up to midfield and is a capable ball carrier while ACX is quickly impressing everyone with his steals and reads at mid (crazy reso).. actually should be a good mid for this team)
Defense:***/5(MysFire will be back there with snot (if he shows) or with some new talent. The backfield is a little weak but improving)
Goaltending:****/5(Shadow still knows how to read plays and will train a quality backup (7hm))
Chemistry: **/5(Unfortunately this team does not scrim much and is almost entirely new to SBL so there will be tons of things to work out)
Bench:***/5(Large lineup of players ready to jump in and learn should allow this team to rotate out players having bad games)
Total:19/30
Top Goals: Kaboom
Most Assists: PT
Most Points: PT
Most Improved:MysFire(I pick myself only because I know I'll need to play a lot better then I'm known for..as many many people tell me.. I suck :P)
Surprise Player:ACX (Crazy steals and reads at mid.. once the ball handling comes ACX could be a great mid)
MVP: Shadow
End of season Record:6-5 to 4-7
Goals For: 7
Goals Against: 6
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
#8 -- Juke
A squad I know very little about so this review should be short. Sorry guys but I only really know about 3 of the players on the roster and can base my opinion only on public play for the rest of you guys.
Offense: ***/5(There are no top caliber shooters on the team but they have a plethora of players they can play up front which should give them some options)
Midfield:**/5( IMO no true ball carriers on the team and no one who can set them up for success. Plenty of players who will try though)
Defense:***(One good defender on the team.. (MV I think..?) but no one with experience after that..)
Goaltending:***/5( Bill has been pretty good in public.. couple of backups on the team as well but I haven't seen them play)
Bench: ***/5(Good sized roster will give them options)
Chemistry:**/5(Haven't seen scrims out of these guys and is basically a totally new team (with old players coming back.. new players joining and a few players from the last couple seasons))
Total: 16/30
Top Goal Scorer: I don't know. (lets go with ryde?)
Top Assists: I don't know (Uh.. Apathy?)
Top Points: ^^^(Uh... Silent?)
Top Saves: Bill
Most Improved: Ryde
Surprise Player: Saint .. either really good or really bad.. Saint will have to make an impact.
MVP:Bill
End of Season Record: 5-6 to 3-8
Goals For: 9
Goals Against: 8
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
#9 -- Wankers
Our Brits are back with a new name but pretty much the same roster! Hopefully they can squeeze into the playoffs but to do so they'll have to beat either Juke or NOD out for one of the last two playoff spots. The top 6 teams IMO are all pretty much guaranteed playoff squads with NOD IMO still having a better lineup then 7/8 making only one spot available for any of the lower caliber squads.
Offense: ***/5 (Prince is still learning and will need to fumble less this season to be a bigger impact. Holby rounds out the top two O for the team)
Midfield:**/5(Again a team with a weaker midfield IMO. Tom will have to be great this year to give the mids an impact)
Defense:***/5( A bright spot on the team, SF and Mode are a decent duo together if they play disciplined and Rob can be put in when needed)
Goalie: ***/5(Poo is going to help the team a lot playing on the back end.. but no backup could leave them hurting)
Bench:***/5(They have plenty of players on hand to help them out wherever)
Chemistry:****/5(A big thing for this team is the fact that they've had a season under their belts already. This could put them over Juke for the final playoff spot)
Total: 18/30 (Higher then #8 Jukes.. but Chemistry is the only difference.. and as I said this could be the reason Wankers are in and Juke is out)
Top Goals: Prince
Top Assists: Tom
Top Points: Prince
Most Saves: Poo
Most Improved:Prince (I think he'll get the fumbles under control and learn when to drop back)
Surprise Player: Whoever mids with Tom!
MVP:Poo
End of Season Record: 5-6 to 3-8
Goals for: 8
Goals against: 9
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
#10 -- Dirty Prostitutes
A brand new team consisting of mostly players who benched the last season there is some talent on this team but consistency and chemistry will be an issue. Drugs will have to accept the assistance of the few experienced players on the team to build a strong team that will need to rely on a well thought out defensive system to get them through.
Offense: **/5(Kris can shoot but forces and fumbles at terrible times with no experience at all while drugs will be a good man up front as well but will need to juke less and pass more, peter would be a starter IMO if he shows)
Midfield:***/5(The bright spot on the team will be led by kurt/jedi who both know how to make smart plays if they can do it consistently)
Defense: **/5(The team has about 6 options on D but all are pretty much new or newer players still learning the game)
Goaltending:***/5(Joeman has experience and should help keep them stable on the back end.. if he shows. If not Drugs is a capable backup)
Bench: ***/5(There are options on the team and this will help them out a lot)
Chemistry: **/5(They've got some scrims in but haven't set a starting lineup fully yet and have some attendance issues to work out)
Total: 15/30
Top Goals: Drugs
Top Assists: Kurt
Top Points: Jedi
Most Saves: Joeman
Most Improved: Kurt (Will need to be very solid for this team)
Surprise Player: Jedi (I think he'll gain a lot of respect and have a big year)
MVP:Jedi
End of Season Record: 4-7 to 2-9
Goals For: 10
Goals Against: 10
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
#11 -- Deflect
Deflect is back but unfortunately for them they will likely finish the same way they did last year, 1-10 with a win over grav trotters being the only possible win. Unfortunately for this squad they do not devote the time it takes to develop a fully newish roster and they do not scrim enough to improve. Once a week playing will only get you so far.
Offense:*/5(Whoever plays up front will probably CP and that will hurt the team)
Midfield:*/5( No true ball carriers on the squad to speak of)
Defense:**/5(Karma/Dom/Spanky give the D some credibility if they show)
Goaltending:**/5(Altair and schmoo should gain tons more experience this year as they will face a barrage of shots)
Bench:**/5(Options available but all lower level talent. This team could use one or two vets to help teach them .. and scrimming)
Chemistry:***/5(At least some of the players from last year will be playing again but they did lose a few)
Total: 11/30
Most Goals: A rabid dinosaur
Most Assists: Peter Pan
Most Points: A duck
Most Saves: Altair
Most Improved: Splint ( Get your act together captain and pull this squad together!)
Surprise Player: Largo (Showed some nice flashes last season expect more!)
MVP: Altair
End of Season record: 2-9 to 0-11
Goals for: 11
Goals Against: 11
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
#12 -- Grav Trotters
I know nothing about this team at all. I will not be reviewing them.
End of season record: 1-10 to 0-11
Goals for: 12
Goals Against: 12
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
IMO: The top team in the league is DP and they will likely win the season. Of the playoff teams the top 7 are almost guaranteed with NOD being the only question mark but even then I believe they are a better team then the 5 below and shouldn't have a problem. Hopefully will be another good season but I think last season will prove to be the more competitive and fun season. I will review at the end of the season my writeup to let everyone know how I did for my predictions for goals for / against / and standings. |

ESBN returns for SBL S11 Playoffs (latest: NOD vs NEWT), posted by
Saturday, May 2nd 2009
ESBN is back for the SBL S11 Playoffs. Unfortunately last Sunday I had to be somewhere at 9 and missed recording the Backlash/Flips games, but I got the other three and should be able to get all remaining playoff games.
Apparently Motionbox added specific rules about usage and similar to Vimeo and others have the no video game capture policy which kinda pisses me off since I have a yearly subscription that is pretty much useless. So options are SmugMug which I have subscribed to and YouTube. Neither will really work for full games so may just have to do highlights until when/if I find another host.
First up is NOD vs NEWT. I'll try to have LAWN vs DR and pals vs INC up later tonight, but it is possible one might be delayed until tomorrow depending on how smooth things go.
Note: There are several different size options from small to full 720p HD. The link below is "automatic" and selects the biggest possible size based on the size of the browser window you are using. Links to other sizes are at the top. I noticed the encoding on the Mid-def appears worse than Hi-Def or iPod/DVD quality.

Preseason predictions reviewed!, posted by
Thursday, April 16th 2009
As most of you read my early pre-season predictions which included a final ranking predicted records and also rankings for GF and GA ... I shall now summarize how well I did.
Unfortunately I did not rank GNP as they were not around when I did my writeup and so they've been completely removed from the standings for this. Sorry GNP :(.
Predicted rankings:
#1 -- Gardeners (1)
#2 -- Backlash (2)
#3 -- NOD(4)
#4 -- NEWTS(3)
#5 -- INC(5)
#6 -- DR(7)
#7 -- BNP(9)
#8 -- PS(8)
#9 -- Flips(6)
#10 -- NWO(10)
#11 --Deflect(11)
The number in brackets is their actual rank. The # before each squad is where I had them ranked.
Barring change in the last week of the season (Backlash and gard might switch spots..everything else is set ...) then my results are:
6/11 Correct
3/11 Off by one spot
1/11 Off by 2 spots (BNP)
1/11 off by 3 spots (Flips)
BNP Lost Rien and Nick before the season started which hurt them drastically. As well Second goalie never played a game for them. I would not have ranked them as high as I did had I known those three players were not with the team. If flips and DR had played.. DR would be in the correct spot and Flips would be only two off from my prediction. (My standings would have been 7/11 correct 2/11 off by one and 2/11 off by two spots.
I'd say my predictions were pretty good in this category. :-)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Records (Please note again that GNP is not accounted for so there may be slight differences..each team will have played one extra game)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I had them going 10-0 to 8-2. They will finish within that standing. (Correct)
Backlash:

DR:
7-3 to 4-6. DR will finish within that standing (Correct)

As evidenced by this I got 7/11 correct in a harder category.. with BNP once again being my biggest mistake. However I still had 2/11 off by only 1 so 9/11 is pretty damn good with flips/bnp being the only two that I was off by more then 1 with.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Goals Against
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
This IMO is the hardest category to rank squads with and likely will have my worst numbers.
My rankings:
#1 Backlash (2) (Off by 1. .could change if they beat Gard by 4+)
#2 Gardeners(1) (Off by 1 .. could change if they lose to BL by 4+)
#3 NOD (6) (Off by 3 .. Switch with NEWTS)
#4 DR (4) (Correct)
#5 Inc (5) (Correct)
#6 NEWTS (3) (Off by 3.. switch with NOD)
#7 BNP(9) (Off by 2)
#8 PS (7) (Off by 1)
#9 Flips(7) (Off by 2(or 1 by end of season).. likely to finish 8th though ..currently tied with PS and will prob give more goals up vs NOD then PS will vs BNP)
#10 NWO (10) (Correct)
#11 Deflect (11) (Correct)
So in this category I have:
4/11 correct for sure with a possibility of 6/11 if gard loses to BL by 4+ goals(Unlikely).
NOD/Newts were reversed (I guess personal BIAS put NOD higher here ..)
PS/Flips off by 1 each (VERY very likely... ) so 2/11 off by 1
Only NEWTS/NOD/BNP will finish by off then more then 1... again not bad for predictions.
----------------------------------------------------------
Summary
----------------------------------------------------------
I received a lot of critisism for my review with a bunch of people disagreeing completely with my rankings and such.... and a bunch of support from others who thought it was well written but wrong...
In the end I'd say I was pretty fucking close on almost everything except BNP who lost players and Flips who should have lost 1 vs DR. :-)
Next season I'll be doing the same thing.. hopefully more people will appreciate the effort.. I don't base my shit on random guessings I try and base everything off stats / facts / player abilities / and what I've seen from watching matches.. (and I watch a shitload because I ref).

Playoff Race!!, posted by
Tuesday, March 31st 2009
Alright figured I'd do a quick summary on the playoff race we have building up here as it's tight and looks like it will come down to 4 squads fighting for three spots.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Incredible
Sitting with 14 points in 6.. Incredible is holding a 2 point lead on 7th based on overtime games which have helped them greatly this season. Incredible plays Flips / NOD / GNP to finish this season. This sets up a scenario where they absolutely must get 1 win to ensure a playoff spot. The flips vs incredible game is huge this week as both teams need the points.. but with NOD / GNP being the final squads for Inc... they HAVE to beat Flips as Inc has a tough schedule and Flips plays NWO.
Inc will likely finish with 1 win and two losses for a total of 17 points to finish the season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Flips
Flips sits in 7th place with 12 points. They have inched closer and closer to a playoff spot this season with two big wins over DR and Pro Seks. (Granted the DR game never happened). Flips has a decent schedule coming up with Inc / NWO / NOD. They have to beat NWO and should get 3 easy points from that game. Their match vs Inc will likely decide who finishes higher.. winner of this match most likely sits in 6th.. loser will stay in 7th.
Flips will likely finish 1-2 the same as Inc and finish with a total of 15 points.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Death Row
DR has the last playoff spot and 8 points to show for 8 games played. DR has been the biggest disappointment this season and will have to win big to finish anything higher then 7th. DR plays NWO / Pro / Newts. Two of those three games are winnable for DR but the Pro / DR game may be the match of the year as that game will most likely decide who is in and who is out.
DR should win 2 of the last three and finish with 14 points to take 8th place.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pro Seks
Pro Seks basically was screwed by the Flips / DR fiasco and sits in 9th place with 8 points and a poorer GD than DR. Pro finishes the year with BL / DR / BNP. They absolutely must beat BNP and DR to get a playoff spot. Again the DR / Pro game will decide who goes on to the big game and who gets to play (and likely win) BOTR.
Pro will likely win only 1 of the final three games for a total of 11 points and 9th place.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
As shown by this.... the games to watch for the remainder of the season come down to:
Incredible Vs Flips
Pro Seks Vs Death Row
Both of those game will decide the positions of playoff teams and the teams involved should show their best lineups and play a very tight controlled game. Anything less would be disappointing. |

My Top Mid/Goalie(Killer3333 style part 2), posted by
Thursday, March 19th 2009
Mid
Below: I know u guys think im crazy because he dribbles like 10 times everytime he touches the ball but if he makes amazing passes so if u looking to score give this guy the ball and for sure he will give u the ball for a open shot.
Staley: One of the best Mids in sbl history. Great shooter/passer. Oh and he plays one hell of a d/m.
IM NOT KISSING ASS.(sorry for not putting u on O i forgot :P)
Blitz: He is a good passer and is like a D midfield to me because i he can check very good oh and own most of the sbl players. He can score and Pass very good too.
Mecca: Another good player similar to Staley style. Very good passer and a good shooter.
Gat: He may have a winning record this season thanks geo lol. But overall he is still one of the best players ever oh he had better seasons before. He is a good passer and shooter.
Goalie
CP: My top 3 Goalie in sbl right now. He has good reflex and i think he can lead BL to the championship.
ShadowNCC: I know what u guys are saying NOD is not the same good team its because they lost most of there core and they can make playoffs but they wont make it far. But i make shadow top 3 goalies in this league because he has good reflex, great captain, oh and they one the championship 2 times with him as a goalie.
One: Well to everybody #1 player of sbl history. He makes every team play good. He can clear passes good and save alot of goals.
Mello: Same skills as CP. He is not as active in public/sbl but he is still one of the best goalie that ever played.
I couldnt name the 5th because it was a very hard choice.
Ill just name my favorite 3 not on this list.
Blood Clot
Apple
The goalie from gardeners(idk him) |

Public Opinion Survey #2- Oh, the drama., posted by
Saturday, February 14th 2009
I recently polled the entire SB community that was online at the time, and here are their anonymous responses from my questions. Enjoy!
-------------------------------------------------------
Question Number One- What squad should we watch out for in this upcoming season?
* Easy, Death Row. People still take Death Row very lightly and will lose games cuz of it.
* Death Row, nickmackie is a God ;x
* Inc because they?re tired of being put down by the "vets" and out of the lower teir squads they have the biggest goal and want it the most.
* BL b/c they're gonna win the championship.
* DR is gonna be a force.
* I think you should seriously be worried about PS, because we have better Defense than you.
* Backlash, they have lots of team chemistry with quite a few key players if they show up.
* DR- third season in the league, got a good strong team, well capable of beating most top squads if not them all.
-------------------------------------------------------
Question Number Two- Who would you rather have unbanned, Dirk Smallwood, Dekar, Both, Neither, or have both die From AIDs?
* Two voted for Dekar to be unbanned
* Four voted for Dirk to be unbanned
* Two voted for both to die from AIDs
* One voted to unban them and then have them die from AIDs
* One voted for them to both die from Tuberculosis
* One voted to keep them both banned
-------------------------------------------------------
Question Number Three- Would you rather take a bubble bath with Rien's vampire girl, engage in a philosophical conversation with Bountyhunters, or take facebook photos with Killer3333?
* The audience overwhelmingly decided to engage in philosophical discussions with Bountyhunters. A few wanted to take facebook photos with Killer. Nobody wanted to take a bubble bath with vampire girl :(
-------------------------------------------------------
Question Number Four- You're in the SBL Championship match and only you can win it, but it's on you and your girl's 1 year anniversary. Take her out or play the game and lose the sex afterwards?
* I'd take her out.
* Take her out.
* Take her out.
* Tough one, I'd go with GF though :P
* I?d get a GF who will understand :D Take her out before game ORRRR play the game and take her out after game. ORRR take her out the next day ;) ORRRRR you just take her out because its just a game lol.
* Just ask her to give me a BJ while playing the game.
* I don?t have a girlfriend ='(
* I?ve been dating my girl for 3 1/2 years- doesn?t work. EZ.
* SBL#1 FUCK BITCHES GET MONEY
* Just take the blower as I play.
* Game first not into girls because I am one, lol.
* Play the match, I?ll get all kinds of pussy with a sbl ring
* Been through this. Play the game but I always get the sex afterwards. My gf won?t give me a bj while playing, I tried
* Pop zits in the mirror instead.
* Play and win. Dump her and buy later, gotta get serious.
* Play the game of course... she would hate me forever though.
-------------------------------------------------------
Question Number Five- Anything you would like to rant to the public forums about? Anybody you absolutely despise in soccer brawl? Say it here! I'll post it and your remarks will be 100% anonymous.
* I think Mr. Poo is a bald headed faggot that suffers from ED.
* I hate Bty and wish he and Spio would OD.
* I despise people who constantly whine in pub.
* I HATE HANDSY.
* Below- hes full of himself, calling everybody "scrubs". I hope he dies.
* Poo is gay.
* For morons stop callin me shemale when I?m just a she goddammit.
* IL OVERRATED.
* Yea, ST wont stop trying to get me to s his d. It has to end today, there have been emails.
* People who take the game seriously... it's online soccer ffs!
* Freddy is a wigger and needs to hang himself.
* Yea why the hell was Delcor given commissioner powers? He?s an asshole who?s blatantly racist in chats and in pub.
* Novella?s feet look like they stank.
* I hate that bald faggot Mr. Poo.
* Freddy cries at night because he isn?t black.
* Chris has been playing forever yet I see noobs playing for the first time pass better.
* People that are mean to new players. Give them a fucking break. If they do something stupid try and help them learn. They can't learn to play without a little help. If they don't play then SB=dead.
* Master Viron reminds me of the hunchback of Notredame.

Prediction + Team breakdown, posted by
Friday, January 16th 2009
New season.. new teams... excitement is in the air... ET is coming up quickly. This season 5 teams stuck around to play it out again (Inc, DR(Formerly known as WTF), Pro Seks, NOD, and Flips (Formerly known as CWD)) while 6 other teams have been created to play again (with Newts making a comeback?)...
Anyways my fearless predictions are as follows:
Gardeners #1
Backlash #2
NOD #3
Newts #4
Inc #5
DR #6
BNP #7
Pro Seks #8
Flips #9
NWO #10
Deflect #11
I don't care what you think of those that's my guess.
Anyways heres the breakdown of what we're looking at this season.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Backlash
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Backlash is Rockmono's team and it is looking like a good one. Goaltending will be solid with CP in net and RS / ST on defense. This team likely will not be giving up too many goals and should finish top 3 for goals against. Midfield is this teams strong point with blitz/Rock giving a strong ball carrying / offensive threat from the mids .. while offensively look for kaboom to have a big season and terwin(Flash) to continue with his dominance. Also with rattle / P being capable players this team has about 10 people who can start in a 7 man game.....
Offense: *** 4/5 (Kaboom has to prove himself.. Terwin is good)
Midfield: ***** 5/5 (Rock/Blitz/P/Rattle can all mid... ridiculously good)
Defense: **** 5/5 (RS / ST look to lead the charge from the back.. good set)
Goaltending: **** 4/5 (CP is good..but has off days..and they don't seem to have a good back up in case he doesn't show....)
Chemistry: *** 3/5 (New team.. some of the guys have played together but they will need time to mesh and gel...)
Overall: 21/25
Top Goal scorer: Terwin
Top Points: Rockmono
Most Saves: CP
Most Improved: Kaboom
Surprise Player: Kaboom
MVP: Rockmono
End of season Record: Look for a 9-1 or 8-2 season from these guys.
End of season ranking (Goals For): 3
End of Season Ranking (Goals against): 1
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
BNP
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is an interesting squad.. Run by Rien.. who apparently will not play this season.... It's all brits and they seem to be very cocky and arrogant about how well their season will be (Based solely on Rien atm..heh..) This team will not be a powerhouse this season but is still a strong rostered lineup and should get some good wins out. Goaltending is SG who will need to prove he can win the big games as he's a good goalie but got drubbed last season in the playoffs.... Defense is average with ES / Mode on the back end. Mids are average with Tom + ( Ricci / Rien if they show) ... who are they playing at mid after the two no shows.... that's a good question there..... Offensive is decent with Nickmackie having a great shot.. and holby coming back to hopefully lead the charge. This won't be a high scoring team but it'll probably not get scored on too much either...
Offense: *** 3/5 (Nick is good.. holby is good..but I don't see the Mids getting the balls to these guys for quality chances..)
Midfield: *** 3/5 ... (Tom is an average mid who makes some good plays.. and some terrible fumbles..and...if rien isn't playing then I think this team is hurting... If he plays it'd be 4/5)
Defense: *** 3/5 (Mode and ES are good... but not the best duo in the league)
Goaltending: *** 3/5 (SG is good..but is he good in big games.... that has yet to be proven... and again no backup)
Chemistry: ** 2/5 ..(Low score as holby hasn't been around for awhile... and other then mode/rien/sg.. team is pretty new together..)
Overall: 14/25
Top Goal Scorer: Nickmackie
Top Points: Nickmackie
Most Saves: SG
Most Improved: Tom
Surprise Player: ES (Will need to be huge)
MVP: Second Goalie
End of Season Record: Between 6-4 and 4-6.
End of Season Goals For: 5
End of Season Goals Against: 7
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Deflect
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Brand new squad led by splint. Looks to get some experience for players.. hopefully can get a win or two from the lower ranked squads but unlikely.... All areas of the team are needing improvement and i'm not sure where most of these guys play....
Offense: * 1/5 ( No idea who plays O on this team..but they aren't going to score many)
Midfield: * 1/5 (Sky whale playing with entirely new players.. not strong enough to get a two)
Defense: * 2/5 ( Domination and karma should be an okay defense but will likely be stuck back there on their own a lot)
Goaltending: * 1/5 (Again not sure..schmoo? hog? .. good experience for them this season.. hope they don't get discouraged.... tough being a goalie with 10+ goals scored on you regularily)
Chemistry: * 1/5 (Brand new squad... mostly new players... will need a lot of time to make this work)
Overall: 6/25
End of Season Record: 1-9 or 0-10
End of Season Goals For: 11
End of Season Goals Against: 11
Top Goal Scorer: Wine-O
Top Points: Sky Whale (if he shows.. if not... ......Wine-O?)
Most Saves: Schmoo?
Most Improved: Splint
Surprise Player: Karma
MVP: Whoever plays Goalie...
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
New World Order
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pacq has once again been allowed to make a squad. Let's hope he keeps his temper in check this season and doesn't fade a squad for scrimming without him on and disrespecting him. This squad being new will have some things to work out but it has a couple people on it that do have some experience so it should do better then deflect and possibly flips. Midfield probably looking at viv/cyc/spark/mase getting it done. Below average midfield with little experience. Offense will be pacq / mase / Big-Sexy ... look for pacq to CP a lot and get some easy goals that way.... Defense looks like Bowen/Acid/ape/possibly cyclone/ nodice. This defense is going to allow a lot of shots and BFN is going to have to be big in net.. Goaltending is questionable as BFN has lag / disconnect issues and this can cost the team big time.
Offense: * 1/5 ...Goals will be scored by pacq... on breakaways..thats about all...
Midfield: **2/5 Viv/Mase/Cyc should be able to carry the ball decently without too many fumbles... but will have to do it on their own.
Defense: * 1/5 ... Not going to get it done with brand new people back there...
Goaltending: **2/5 BFN can be decent but can he overcome the lag...and who plays after him if he can't.. (pacq?)
Chemistry: **2/5 .. Pacq will work hard to gel the team together and if he controls his temper and they listen......
Overall: 8/25
End of Season Record: 2-8 or 1-9
End of Season GF: 10
End of Season GA: 10
Top Scorer: Pacq
Most Points: Pacq
Most Saves: BFN
Most Improved: Viv/Mase
Surprise Player: Cyclone
MVP: Pacq
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Gardeners (NOD v2.0......)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What happens when a team wins two championships in two years? The AZNS mostly leave together to form a "new squad" that is all mexican and yet with no mexican tie ins at all. Anyways this is going to be a great squad and should finish first..or 2nd at worst. The offense will be led by Novella / KD / Meep and will be a top scoring set. Midfield looks like Staley and Mecca.. .. Great duo but not the best in the league as a twosome... Defense has HF/Drekk... Hf will carry a lot of the load and is one of the best at the back end..... Goaltending is questionable with Pedro/RZ as goalies ...
Offense: **** 5/5 (Three up front who can score..and a midfield that can score....)
Midfield: ****4/5 ( Good mids..but not as good as Backlash at this position and may get caught defensively)
Defense: ****5/5 (HF is a workhorse back there and gets the 5 stars practically on his own... Drekk is solid)
Goaltending: ***3/5 (Questionable for a team of this caliber.... may have to make a trade later in the season (by trade I mean steal))
Chemistry: ****4/5 (These guys have all played together at some point and although a new squad.. look for it to be solid from the start.)
Overall: 21/25
End of Season Record: 10-0 (unlikely) to 8-2.
End of Season Goals For: 2
End of Season Goals Against: 2
Top Scorer: Meep
Most Points: KD
MVP: Staley
Most Saves: Pedro
Most Improved: Pedro
Surprise Player: Drekk
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Death Row (WTF)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WTF sticks around for another season (3rd) and has improved again.. barely missing the playoffs last season.. actually both seasons... but improving steadily. Look for solid defense from this team and good chemistry between the players. Offense will be led by L4B and mypod. This won't be a high scoring team but will win with their D play which is led by SV and Trab a very solid set. Goaltending will be courtesy of Mr.Poo who has proven to be a reliable tender with bad passing habits... and the mids are better then average with dizz / Real. Plus with the quality of benchers on the team (Rage/Nuke/ND/Jedi/MC/hua) .. they could field almost two full teams of equal caliber players.. giving them many options if someone has a bad day.
Offense: ***3/5 (This is not a offensive team as proven in the last two seasons..but they do have guys who can score)
Midfield: ***3/5 (Dizz is a solid playmaker but real/rage/jedi/mc still have to prove they can get it done offensively)
Defense: ****4/5 (SV is good but mouthy... trab is good... couple others they can put there)
Goaltending: ***3/5 (Poo tends to fumble and Rage still needs more games..)
Chemistry: *****5/5 (Three years.. good group..few changes.. should play very tight defense)
Overall: 18/25
End of Season Record: 7-3 (unlikely) to 4-6 (Also unlikely).
End of Season GF: 7
End of Season GA: 4 (Defense FTW)
Top Goal Scorer: Mypod
Most Points: Sahana
Most Saves: Poo
MVP: Sahana
Most Improved: Real
Surprise Player: Sahana
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Flips
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CWD is back with a new name and a new look. BTY is going to have to be huge for this team..but there are other players who can get it done. Offense will be led by Spio (CP) Mabio and xena/spartan. Not a strong O but will probably get some easy CP goals like pacqs team. Mids are okay with King Marvin and the very capable Jello. Defense is Spanky and yoshi and can get some good steals...but then probably a lot of fumbles causing goals as well.... Goaltending will be BTY and he'll need to be big but was a pretty good goaltender last season for CWD.. except he also fumbles bunches..
Offense: **1/5..(Not a strong set up front...... expect random stupid lobs)
Midfield: **2/5 (Jello is a good mid.. Marvin will need to prove he can do more then wall bounce)
Defense: **2/5 (Spanky is okay..yoshi has much to learn..)
Goaltending: **2/5 (Bty will have lots to prove.... and no backup ..unless..spio?ROFL!)
Chemistry:**2/5 (New players.. and not a lot of skill will cause some major issues.. even though some of them are together now for two seasons)
Overall: 9/25
End of Season Record: 2-8 or 1-9 (Depends on if they beat pacq)
End of Season GF: 9
End of Season GA: 9
Top Goal Scorer: Spio
Most Points: Spio
Most Saves: BTY
MVP: BTY
Surprise Player: Jello
Most Improved: Spanky
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Incredible
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Inc is back for 2.5 seasons together (Lots played together on BAD). They improved their weakest area (D) with the addition of IL and should look to squeak into the playoffs (depending how they do vs WTF/BNP/Pro). Offense will be led by Res/Excess/Aff.. who can all score but need to show consistency in their game ...or in the case of res...show up period. Mids are good with Kurt/Jair/Ortiz as the main three. Defense is really good with IL/Thimb on the back end... and finally Apple in G rounds out a pretty sturdy squad.
Offense: *** 3/5. (Res / Excess can both score.. but again..consistency...+ they need to show up... and aff is very much an on/off player...)
Midfield: ***3/5 (Kurt is a good defensive mid with a top notch Steal/Fumble... Ortiz is the gifted offensive mid and Jair is a balanced mid for them.. Gives them options at this position).
Defense: ****4/5 (Thimb has proven to be a true stay at home..and IL just improved this team drastically)
Goaltending: ***3/5 (Apple is good..but has no real backup (kurt..but he hates it)...)
Chemistry: *****5/5 (This team is together for another season and look for the experience to show)
Overall: 18/25
End of Season Record: 7-3 (Unlikely) to 4-6 (Also Unlikely).
End of Season GF: 6
End of Season GA: 5
Top Goal Scorer: Res / Excess (Whoever actually shows up)
Most Points: Ortiz
MVP: Res
Most Improved: Kurt
Surprise Player: Res (if he shows)
Most Saves: Apple
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NOD
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NOD lost a lot of players this season (the end of a two year dynasty?) as most went to play for team mexico..... Offense this year will be relied on from 0_6 and turtle which is an okay duo. The mids however are stellar with desp/mish leading the charge and a very deadly duo both offensively and defensively... The defense is the big question as they will start the season with MysFire and PT on the back end. PT hasn't played in awhile but used to be a sturdy stay at home..and MysFire was good in patches last season but has consistency issues to overcome. Goaltending is probably the best in the league as Shadow is one of the top goalies and actually has a backup who is capable with TX. Look for less goals scored and more goals against then last year but still a sturdy squad.
Offense: ***3/5 (0_6 Lags... and turtle/touk need to prove they can play big games now)
Midfield: *****5/5 (Mish/Desp is huge and will have to be amazing for this team to win)
Defense: ***3/5 (MysFire makes some dumb mistakes at times..and PT will have to shake off some rust)
Goaltending: *****5/5 (The only team with two goalies who can get it done..and one of them is a top 3 goalie (Shadow)
Chemistry ****4/5 (Couple new additions and lots of starters out..but still a good core from last season (Shad/tx/mys/touk/desp/turtle)
Overall: 20/25
End of Season Record: 9-1 (unlikely) to 6-4(Also unlikely)
End of Season GF:4
End of Season GA:3
Top Scorer: Shadow (if he doesn't play G.. Turtle if he does)
Most Points: Mishra
MVP: Desperado
Most Improved: MysFire (Hopefully)
Surprise Player: Tie.. PT will shake the rust off and be huge..and Turtle will be a strong player up front.
Most Saves: TX Falcon
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NEWTS
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The laggiest group of players have formed together to form team lag! Er..newts... Anyways this is going to be a goal scoring team... and will also have tons scored against them..... Offense is led by the whole team practically.. with darter/z/gat/a all huge goal scorers.. and all with lag issues and defensive responsibility issues. Look for some CP goals and some high scoring games. Mids are 910 / Destroy.. 910 will handle a lot of the ball carrying... Defense is decent with R / Bronco / Water / Ath / Leg playing back there to help keep the ball out of the net. Goaltending is questionable with capus/ Bronco being the likely candidates? The loss of gil hurt the team but it's still pretty strong.

Last but not least.. Pro seks.. Back for season 2... They haven't really done much with the roster whereas other BOTR teams improved (IL to inc.. Dizz to WTF)... Look for them to sit above the three bottom feeders and maybe get 1 wins over the likes of BNP/Inc/Newts/WTF but that's about all. Offense is led by scream and whoever they play with him. Scream is good if he controls his usage of HK..but the rest are shaky with him. Mids are average with value/wiz/rap/fae/finest/rohax all able to mid for the team. Defense will be led by snot if he shows..and towel. Goaltending options are towel/jk.

1/15 - BOH
1/16 - PRO
1/18 - NOC
1/19 - 2G1

Positional Review - Offense., posted by
Tuesday, November 11th 2008
This writeup is based on the offensive stars of SBL this season.
King Donkey
The donkey is a pure goalscorer. He picks up the brunt of NOD's goals for offense as meep often takes the route of opening up space and defending more. KD is a veteran and has been playing for many seasons (despite a gap between 4-7) and when he resurged he was back with a bang. He has managed 93 goals in 3 seasons, a stunning return to rival Darter himself. Not only this but in the last 3 seasons he has also made 49 assists.
So far this season he has boasted at least 3 goals in every game besides WTF, BOH and SBL which is still an excellently high return. He has a stingingly powerful shot and a great sense of the field in order to pick out players with ease. He works well with any team he is on too. KD has also amassed 42 steals to bolster the defensive side of his game. His current form suggests he is VERY deadly so he will be one to definitely watch out for in the Playoffs if he brings his A game.
Novella
Novella is SBL's resident female. Despite her cute banners (froggyyy) she possesses venomous offensive play. She is somewhat underated due to the powerhouse that is Terwin lining up next to her in Offense but she must not be forgotten. She has hit 59 goals in the last 3 seasons and gathered a great partnership with the rest of her squad. Her assists count is also one of her impressive factors, managing 14 assists so far as she works brilliantly with Gil, Rattle and Terwin on offense.
Her shooting is some of the best and so is her versatility as she possesses some excellent goalie skills. Her positional play is sometimes impossible to pickup as she seems to ghost in and out of the opposition with ease and her passing has improved vast ammounts in the final third this season. Not only does she provide offensive play but she brings 45 steals to the table showing she definietely has more than one side to her game. Novella has proven to be consistant against the top 5 (4 goals against them) and NOD will have to defend stalwartly against her and Nocturnal.
Darter
Darter, a fellow greek, is the greatest offensive player in SBL history. His goal tally is un matched and he is the most consistant threat for any team and the greatest asset to his own team. SBL picked Darter up after game 1 and his impact was like an explosion as their medicore 1-0 loss to BOH was turned into an 8 game winning streak. Darter is again a vastly experienced player and the joint most successful one of all time with 5 rings. Darter's prowess is easy to talk about as he has finished top scorer for almost EVERY season bar season 5 and last season amassed the highest goal tally ever with 46. However he hasn't played too many games this season and his goal tally is only at 15. This doesn't mean anything however as he is still clutch and an extreme threat due to his ability.
He possesses the most consistant and deadly shot in Soccer Brawl as well as an underated passing ability. Darter also has some excellent ball control and vasts amount of experience. One big strength for him and SBL this season is his partnership with Gatusso. They have been on the same team many times and it has shown this season with an excellent interplay between the two. Darter is an obvious factor as to why SBL could pick up a ring this season.
Rage
Rage is a rookie with great confidence and has shown this with his successful transition from Goalie to Offense. I could've picked the veteran Destroy or the deadly Terminator but I think Rage deserves to be in the report due to being one of the more successful rookies this season. Rage is a great new goalie providing some superb performances against NOD and Nocturnal early on however with the arrival of veteran Freddy Adu he has been pushed out into Offense/Midfield. Rage has managed to take this in his stride with ease with some great consistant performances with 12 goals and 4 assists in his last 5 games. He has only been shutout once since becoming an outfield player as well.
Rage possesses a good shot with some intelligent play, however his offensive play may not be as refined as most but this is simply being new to SBL and will come with time. He provides BOH with some excellent versatility as both he and Freddy can play outfield. It will be interesting to see which position Rage picks next season, if he continues on, as he is an excellent goalie as he is a O.
mypod
Mypod is many things, emo being one of them(LOL!). However he is one of these players that becomes better and better with every match he plays. Last season he was new to soccer brawl but by the end of the season he looked like a new deadly threat. This season he has changed into an intelligent player with some frighteningly accurate snap shots. One of his awesome stats this season is the fact he has already scored more goals then he managed last season, with over an hour and a half less play time. This just shows his massive improvement.
Mypod has an excellent shot, he is one of those deadly shooters who can shoot through the tiniest gap in the defence with relative ease and score. He has excellently accurate shots as well. Mypod's linkup play with the rest of WTF is excellent and his offensive partnership with NickMackie has also grown into a potent threat. His tendency to just get on with the game, not make any noise or complaints is also something he deserves respect for. However, mypod's greatest attribute is his clutchness. mypod is always there to score in overtime or in the big games. His only weakness is his passing can become poor when under pressure (whether a big game or life4blood unknowningly putting him under pressure on vent), which seems odd considering he is clutch.
Excess
Excess this season has been Incredible's offensive threat this season. He is in his second season and has been hugely consistant throughout both seasons. He has hit 32 goals in two seasons (16 in both) and he has managed this tally quicker then last season, with an extra 2 assists. He has scored in every game bar 2 this season (Nocturnal and Pro Seks) to help carry Incredible in terms of O.
He possesses a really deadly shot and seems to be one of those players uneffected by pressure. His positional play is also a huge strength as he knows exactly where to be to recieve that killer pass. His passing is decent enough as well and one of his great strengths is his teamwork with Incredible and Ortiz in particular. However he does tend to try and "be a hero" at times and attempt some bizzare shots which he ends up forcing, but overall Excess is a player I expect to see in a playoff team in the near future as he can certainly score with ease and just needs the service to match (no offense to ole or incredible so jairz doesnt come here to complain.).
Akzel
Akzel is one of the vets in this writeup, having played since the start of SBL. He has been a consistant scorer every season, bagging at least 10 goals every season bar 2. He is also the only player ever to be top scorer for a season above Darter (season 5). However this season Akzel seemingly went missing for quite a few of the games. He showed up for the first two and for the last 4 as well. He has scored in every game and has been explosive since returning, managing 10 goals in 4 games. His assist count is up there with his goal scorer as he has 11 assists. He also has 31 steals from the 6 games, showing he is talented defensively.
Akzel has a hugely punishing shot which rivals the likes of Darter and Terwin and he can seemingly fit into any team with great results. His passing and eye for assists is also a big bonus for his play as he racks up goals and assists. Akzel also likes to carry the ball alot and look for the right pass or opening for a shot, which is complemented by his tanking. Overall Akzel is a extremely good offensive player who should be playing for the likes of playoff squads. He will be KEY to 2g1g progressing in the BOTR tournament as he is bang in form.
Puma Swede
Puma is possibly classed as a midfield but I picked him here due to his goal scoring tally and it being almost impossible to know who plays what on their team. Puma has definitely been one of the best of the new ctfers to SBL as he has suprised everyone with a decent goal and assist tally. His shooting has been underused somewhat in the team as they allowed Overdose to seemingly take all the shots in the begining, but after OD left, Puma has performed excellently with a goal in his last 4 games. He has notched 7 goals and 4 assists as well as a huge steal count of 46 showing some great defensive play.
Puma has a suprisingly good shot and is hard to read. His passing is one of the best for Pornstars and his defensive play helps out the team undoubtably well. Puma hasn't had the most defining season for Pornstars but this may be due to it being his first season. With refinement he could be come a decent offensive or midfield player. I would like to see him certainly stay in SBL next season as I think he could improve a great deal too.
Scream
Scream has been a late pickup by Pro Seks as he seemingly left SBL for lack of starts. Yet another vet on the list, he has scored 13 goals a season on average since Season 5. He has been explosive since joining PS managing 11 goals in 6 games adding to his 7 he got in 2 games for SBL. With 5 goals in his last 2 games he will be a huge threat to all the teams in the BOTR (as INC found out). His goal tally this season is already his best ever showing that even vets can get better.
Scream is a play who can possess a deadly shot at any time and his passing is smarter then the average O. What makes these two attributes even better is his experience as he knows where to be and where to pass to. His determination to score is also excellent although his rather high tendency to high kick shots when not necessary can be a pain. However he is explosive at the moment and will provide Pro Seks with a huge asset in the BOTR as at the moment he seems as though he can score every game.
Michael Jordan
MJ is your goto guy if you want your squad dissolving without anyone knowing or if you need someone who is "not a microsoft word". However, MJ has been around 2 seasons although it seems longer as he has been on a whopping 5 squads in 2 seasons. Despite this he has shown he can score goals quite competently with 11 goals and 3 assists this season for CWD as a late pickup for them. Amazingly this includes 4 goals against Nocturnal and WTF which is quite impressive.
MJ is a decent shooter when he wants to be and is also a good passer. However his main problems stem from he has wild inconsistancies to turn over some of the most simple passes you can think of. Next, he also seems reluctant to shoot at times, despite a decent shooting ability, as he will prefer to pass when unecessary as he may have a good shooting opportunity. Finally, MJ is a versatile play as a good goalie at times, he possesses good shot stopping skills and has shown that with 10 saves over NOD this season and he is also a quick clearer of the ball when in goal which is an attribute I like as he doesn't dawdle on the ball in the crease. |

Positional Review - Midfield., posted by
Tuesday, November 11th 2008
This writeup is purely on the stars in midfield this season.
This season there have been alot of impressive midfielders racking up goals, assists and steals.
Rockmono
Rock is such an offensive minded mid that many dispute he is actually and offense player. However he starts and claims he is a mid. Rock is a relatively new player but exploded onto the scene in season 8 with Mafia, continuing is streak of dominiation with MOB and now NOD. He's currently the top scorer in SBL this season with most goals, 2nd highest assists and most points. Some may say that he only achieved his tally because he padded against POS however, not only has he scored in every game but he has hit 11 goals against those in the top 5, although he got shutout by SBL.
His overall game is based on his all round great offensive play with shooting to rival the best o and passing to suggest he's been playing for more then 3 seasons. One important factor to his game this season has been the fact he's fit perfectly into NOD and especially their midfield, as Desperado does alot of the defensive work allowing him to stream forward. Rock is certainly a candidate for MVP this year.
Gil
Gil has established himself as possibly the best offensive mid in the last few seasons and he has continued to fortify the trend this year with 9 goals and 24 assists (Most Assists). He also has the most steals this season and infact he has most steals and assists lifetime. However most of his stats have come against CWD or POS. I think the reason may be that he really flourished last season with the protection of Blitzkrieg and Desperado behind him as Rockmono has, however he has also been hindered by a shitty monitor. Despite this it's obvious Gil is a huge contender for Midfielder of the year.
Gil has sublime passing and excellent shooting as well as a more defensive sense around him then others proven by his mass amount of steals lifetime and this season. However Gil has shown before he is clutch in the playoffs as he had excellent games against Nocturnal last year and he will be hoping he can do the same against NOD this time.
Blitzkrieg
Blitzkrieg hasn't played too many games this season but then again he hasn't really needed to due to SBL's depth. Blitz is an experienced veteran with as well as being one of the most successful players in SBL history due to his 5 rings with NOD and UNB. Blitz is one of those players that keeps the team together, he scores and assists, passes, steals, attacks well and defends well. One of his obvious aspects is his carry time, it may seem annoying to some but it is a deadly weapon as he can wait for teammates to open up space and then with a simple pass it could be a goal.
Blitzkrieg is an incredible leader as well and brings success with him where ever he goes. He also works well with quite a few of his team mates like Gatusso and Darter having been together on the same team for many seasons. If SBL is going to win the playoffs they will need Blitzkrieg to play. His vision and anticipation are some of his biggest strengths which can break down opposing teams attacks or contribute to his team scoring
Comment from Dizzeguy - What can you say about Blitz, he's the prototypical mid who also happens to be the best capt and field leader ever. There aren't really many flaws to his game, and could very well be the smartest player in the game. He does it all, and if I could pick a player to mirror or someone I've learned from the most it would be him. All young players should pay attention to his game.
Dizzeguy
Dizzeguy is yet again another excellent leader with great sportsmanship. Dizz is highly experienced and has play with alot of the big players. He contains an excellent mix of Goals and Assists showing he can easily help out his team in either way. He sits next to Lawn Dwarf in midfield and as they both are great playmakers. Dizz may be on one of the underdog teams for this seasons championships but if anyone on his team can pull them together for a suprise playoff win it will be Dizz.
Dizz has excellent passing and shooting as well as highly underated juking skills. He can work well with almost any team and fits well into BOH. Possibly one of Dizze's weaknesses is to fumble at some of the most bizzare times but he makes up for it with his all round great Midfield play. He's scored all the playoff matches he's played in which is a deadly stat.
Comment from Real - dizzeguy is one of the most fundamentally sound players in the league. Hustle, awareness and off the ball movement/decisions are the crux of his game. He may not be the flashiest player, but his understanding of team dynamics, trusting of teammates, and intangibles makes him extremely reliable and valuable. He is often seen as the experienced veteran with unparalleled consistency and composure who is the perfect "glue guy" to any successful team. He is usually the one to make crucial blocks to break open offensive sequences.
Real
Real was a bit unknown at the start of the season despite an sbl ring to his name. He is an all round midfield player as well with a strong knowledge of both defensive and attacking play. One thing to note about real is his Pass to Fumble ratio is fantastic with 264 passes yet only 26 fumbles. However he has improved throughout the season in shooting and assisting grabbing 3 goals and 11 assists as well as 37 steals. He fits well into the WTF midfield along side their other most experienced player - Mishra, these two have great knowledge on defense and it has shown this season when they play together.
Real plays as though he's been playing since season 1. His passing and knowledge of who to pass to and when is top notch and he never forces it. He is constantly improving throughout the season. He has been on the WTF team for two seasons now and is one of the driving forces behind WTF's success.
Ortiz
Ortiz is a midfielder in his second season now having moved to Inc from the monotony of WTS. He was quite impressive last season for WTS although he played more of an offensive role for them, picking up almost a third of WTS's goals. This season however he moved into a more defensive midfield position picking up alot of the ugly work for Incredible. Despite this he has scored and assisted 4 times. His role is a perfect combination as usual, allowing Sky Whale to drive forward while he sits back cleaning up the shit.
Ortiz is an excellent and underated checker with a good vision for passing, his shooting also is average although much better last season. His selfless play is also a bit asset as it counter balances Sky Whale's hog it up play.
Comment from Rockmono - Ortiz has raw natural skill that is hard to find in this game. Once he gets it polished with another or so season of SBL look for him to be one of the top players. He has the ability to play any position as he is a natural all-around player. His checking, passing, shooting etc... are all top notch and if this guy can just get on a top team, look for him to be deadly on the field. Up and coming star. His only weakness is his inexperience. He needs a support system from other seasoned veterans to unleash his full potential.
P
P is a midfield dynamo. He has bags of experience having picked up 3 rings already for UNB and is a great asset to 2g1g although if he was added earlier to the team they may have done a little better. P fumbles very few times shown by his 7.95 pass to fumble ratio and his steal count is also extremely high (34) despite only playing 5 games. He is a type of player that could easily play for a much bigger team, especially a playoff one.
P possesses some of the best checking skills as he mops up the midfield. He also has some underated passing.
Comment from TOWEL - Very intellectual player, fumbling rarely on the disappointing 2g1g team as well as in pub. I would never have a problem passing to this guy, as I know he would do something useful with it. He's played with great players before and knows how the game works, good asset to any team.
Christine Young
Christine Young is a brand new player to SBL having come with Pornstars from CTF. He is one of those players to go un-noticed due to lack of scoring or assisting. Although he makes up for this with a very large 44 steal count. This includes the joint top for a single game this season (14). He has decent passing and some good checking skills as well which allows oo to get forward. He has definitely been one of Pornstars more prominant players showing up for almost every game and being played for long periods each time.
Towel
Towel has now been playing for 3 seasons although I defnietely had him down as a player to work his way up to some decent squads a few seasons ago. However he hasn't played too much this season but when he has he picked up an MVP and a decent amount of steels. He has a good shot on him too.
Spartan
This guy is a future star. He has an excellent shot and some fantastic jukes. He rarely loses the ball and never forgets it when hes in a turn. Shit storm. |

End of season review + Playoff predictions, posted by

End of Season Review + Playoff Preview.
Well the season has come to an end with quite a few upsets and a few surprises. Some players stepped up big this year while others had what could be considered disappointing seasons.
Lets start with the final season standings, the top 5 were as expected. With SBL finishing higher then most thought and Noct slipping a place. WTF and BOH had a good battle for 4th with BOH slipping in based on overtime games. NOD had the top offense this season and SBL the top defense, whereas BOH played fairly sloppy and is lucky to be in the final four.
NOD
SBL
Noct
BOH
WTF
The bottom five was much more interesting this year. Incredible finished slightly higher then many would have thought (expect the members of incredible) and showed much improvement with possibley the largest turnout per game this year and a very fair system which gave balanced playing time. They may have had slightly better results with a top starting lineup in for full games but hopefully next season they will jump up even higher and with a solid season by Apple seem to have fixed goalie issues. 2G1G slipped as they were a decent squad last year and just seemed to have terrible chemistry all year this year. Porn Stars moved up a spot to 8th as they looked like a bottom two squad but the practice and dedication paid off. Pro seks was very disappointing this year not being able to get the job done in any of their games and finished just ahead of CWD who finished as expected with no wins and at the bottom of the pile.
Incredible
2G1G

Playoff Predictions
The match to watch will be SBL vs NOD. SBL slapped NOD down handing them the one loss of the season. The top offense will need to find a way to beat the top defense if they expect to win this one.
Likely finishing:
NOD 3-0 or 2-1
SBL 3-0 or 2-1
Noct 2-1 or 1-2
Boh 1-2 or 0-3
Which will put NOD vs SBL in the final two with Noct also having an outside chance. BOH will need to step up if they expect to make it to the championship game.
BOTR
The best of the rest tournament may have some surprises. WTF looks to be the best of the remaining 6 teams but has a tendency to lose to Incredible and will need to win that game to stay at the top. Pro seks and CWD likely will not challenge. The dark horse in this one may be porn stars who have kept most games close with tight defense and need to get some more scoring touch. If someone can step up and put the ball in the net for them they may finish near the top of the BOTR. 2G1G will need to work out their ego/chemistry issues and play as a team if they want to beat WTF and Inc.

Team Review
NOD
-----
NOD finished the season as the top scoring team with an amazing 110 goals compared to second place 81 (Noct). However the scary stat for NOD is the goals allowed (35) which puts them just ahead of WTF for 4th place and worst of the playoff teams. ShadowNNC has had a bit of an off year by his own admission but can still easily be the best goalie in the league when he's on his game. Look for him to step up in the playoffs. The loss of hellfire for half the season also allowed more chances for opposing teams as most of NOD's defense play very actively upfield giving a few too many odd man breaks.
NOD will likely be in the final two.
Goaltending
ShadowNNC can be the best but again needs to step up to lead his team to their 2nd straight championship. If he struggles TX can step in and play well under pressure and has proven that he deserves to be there.
Defense
Hellfire is a top 3 defender in the league but needs to show to the playoffs if NOD wants to shut down the other teams scoring. Staley is very capable at defensively and offensively and has a tendency to be upfield creating goals which has led to a few breaks. However with 32 points and NOD Only having 35 goals scored on them this year, his pinching has proven to be more effective then detrimental to the squad. If hellfire doesn't show look for desperado to be moved back to D or MysFire to play a stay at home role to prevent odd breaks.
Midfielder
Rockmono is the top scorer of this year at midfield and has shown at the end of the season that he can play both sides of the field as well. Rock will be the ball carrying offensive threat at this position. He is complemented by another good ball carrier/passer in desperado who will be a slightly more defensive mid.
Offense
Meep and King Donkey work well together and can both but the ball in the back of the net. Meep has veteran experience and KD has enough goals this year to show he's a consistent offensive weapon.
Bench
Turtle makes an impact when playing although has had limited playtime this season. A positive steal/fumble, a few points and saves makes turtle a great all around player to be put in at mid when needed.
Toukinup has had limited time as well but looks to be a solid playmaker and can be put back on defense when needed.
MysFire has played the full season on D with NOD and has a steady stay at home play which allows others to get up into the play and contribute offensively. Expect a few mistakes here and there from this second year player.
TX will backup Shadow and can be moved to defense as well.
NOCT
Noct is a team of 2nds. Projected 2nd place finish. Finished 2nd in goals for and 2nd in goals against. Finishe 3rd in the season. Noct has to beat NOD or SBL to make it to the final two.
Goaltending
C_P has the main goaltending duties for Noct and when he's on his game is very very effective. C_P biggest issue is consistency and will need to come up big to allow Noct into the final four. Backing up C_P is Vanishing and S@ve? (he around still?) as well as RZ can step in and play net if required.
Defense
Noct has defense of MV/Drekk/ST. Soul Tyrant is a top defender in the league and Drekk and MV both have played well when required back there. ST is more of a stay at home defender with MV while Drekk floats a bit more.
Mid
Rattle and Gil dominate the midfield for Noct. Gil is one of the best players in the league as a setup man and ball carrier. Rattle provides a stable presense there as Gil tends to play a lot more up with the O. Vanishing has also stepped in as D/Mid and put up points this year showing his versatility.
Offense
Terwin is one of the best shooters in the league and finished 2nd in goals this year. His corner shots are deadly and he will be counted on in the playoffs to put up big numbers. Novella shows a strong secondary scoring touch. Those two along with Gil provide the second best offense in the league.
Bench
RZ did not seem to play much this year but can D/G as needed.
SBL
SBL has been surprising this year. Starting with a mix of underdog players they ended up bringing in most of what was going to be UNB and developed into a top squad. However they finished 3rd in scoring and only had about half the goals of NOD, yet have some of the best shooters in the league (Darter, Gat, Z). Instead of an overpowering offense they won with the best D in the league led by Rien on D. As well they were the only team to beat NOD and did so very handily (8-1) with a dominate performance.
Goalie
Second goalie moved from the worst team in the league last year to a top squad but kept his saves up and played well for SBL as their #1. JK and MB provide good backups as mello has experience and JK has shown promise in net.
Defense
Underated this year at D, Rien played a great solid stay at home D for SBL this year. Red stripe as his partner showed that he could outcheck and kill off a lot of attacking players with a whopping 241 kills with only 104 deaths. This tandem has kept many teams off the score sheets.
Midfield
Blitzkrieg is a solid ball carrier at mid and can play back on the line if needed as well. Gatusso played mid this year as well (I think) and provides a good scoring threat from there with some good ball carrying and shooting skills but has played a little rusty this year.
Offense
The enigma that is Darter leads the O for SBL but only had 15 goals this season which could be considered disappointing for him. Z plays O as well and has some of the best corner shots in the league but may be a bit weaker in the ball carrying / finding shooting spots skills that players like Terwin/Rockmono/Darter(normally) are known for.
Bench
Scream can play almost anywhere on the team and has been around a long time. Offensively a good threat with some crazy HK shots... and some terrible HK shots.
Disposable hero can come on at D/mid and help out there. Spio can come off the bench and give a deep scoring threat as he plays far upfield and is known for his CP lob goals. Feelucky can come in and play mid as well and has chipped in a couple points this year. Forgotten is dekar/rot/feral who had limited playing time this year but can step in and provide offense if z/darter are struggling. Don't know who usain is. Mode also saw limited time this year but is a gerat stable influence on the team and likely will start in the playoffs at mid?.
Finally
BOH
BOH has been a little disappointing this year, having lost too NOD/Noct/WTF and also having a few other close matches that allowed them to just barely sneak in at 4th even though they were projected as a top 4 team all year. However the talent on the team makes them a threat and their quick pass offense and 3rd best defense in the league will allow them to compete well with the other 3. Plus a early season win over SBL shows they can step up and do what they need to.
Goaltending
One is likely a top 3 goalie in the league but doesn't always show. When he's on it is very hard to score on him. Rage played well this season as well but has been lit up once or twice by other top squads and needs more experience to be able to pull off the big upset wins.
Defense
Infinite Loop is a steady defender and top 5 in the league. Most of Boh can step in and play D with IL (910/r/delcor/LD) and provide good ball movement and quick forwards passes to spring the BOH attackers.
Midfield
Delcor can steamroll anything if he's playing mid and is a great defensive mid with super ball carrying abilities. Dizz provides a solid playmaker at this position and has good field vision along with great passing skills.
Offense
Rage/destroy/terminator provide a strong offensive attack but not as strong as the other three teams as none of those 3 can yet be considered a top scorer in the league. BOH seems to do scoring by committee with the top scorer at 11 goals but 5 players within 5 goals of that (rage/LD/destroy/dizz/term). 910 can also move up and score goals if required.
Bench
Ichibani<< Don't know much about him.
Institute: Looks like a good playmaker and has seen a bunch of playing time so far. Don't know enough about him to make good comments.
Apologies to BOH I'm not totally sure where you played anyone this year so I likely screwed up a bunch of positions and based most of it on stats and where i've seen you in the past.
BOTR review may or may not come. If enough people request I'll spend the time to do so. |

Whew. This should have been up yesterday but Motionbox decided to go down for maintenance for like 12 hours or more. Then when it decides to come back up I'm running off the VT vs GT football game (90 degrees with a lot of sun and a zillion tv timeouts, but we got the W).
Honestly this weeks stuff didn't turn out as well as I'd like, but oh well. Gonna try and figure out what I can do to make things more interesting.

I also created a new YouTube account, SoccerBrawlMedia to match what I use everywhere else now and will probably upload all vids except full games to try and get some more exposure (more for when I make promo/training vids).

ESBN HD S9 Finals Game 1 - NOD vs NOC - Full Game, posted by
Wednesday, July 23rd 2008
Announcing starts about 2.5 minutes into the game.
This is from my HD recording which isn't as smooth as my fraps recording. Let me know if you think this is watchable or you prefer to sacrifice reso for smoothness. I should try HD recording in XP and see if Vista is keeping it from recording as smoothly. I recorded the game at 1600x1200 and ended up cutting out the middle 1280x720 since that means no scaling and a better picture.
http://www.motionbox.com/videos/d490d7b61d1de05c
I had intended to make highlight vids and release the full games on the same day but I'm worried its going to take me so long to find time to do the highlight vids now that I'm going to release full games and then later do highlight vids with only the goals and very best of the saves and other plays. As its the finals I want to make a very nice vid with starting lineup intros and nice special effects. |

First the vid is not up yet but I'm going out for about 2 hours and want to have this posted before the championship game tonight. It has been uploaded and Motionbox is optimizing it for SD playback right now. I had to encode it at 640x360 in order to get it up before the match. Basically would take 2.5 hours for 720p and 40minutes for half that resolution. It's at 45% optimization so I would guess it'll be up around 7:20-7:30 PM est.
Check http://www.motionbox.com/filings?folder_id=6234153 for it. If you think you are one of the first ones to watch and the vid looks bad in SD plz click the HD button so it will start encoding in HD.
_______________
Its quite rough due to very limited time, but its too bad. So it is quite long coming in around 16 minutes with both games. |

Season 9 Championship Preview
Nocturnal (#2 seed) vs. Nation of Domination! (#4 seed)
So here we are? after the longest season in SBL history, we?ve finally narrowed the field down to two teams. Both of these squads have had their ups and downs throughout the season, but they both managed to get it together when it counted and now they have a shot at walking away as undisputed internet champions? until next season. Lets begin.
Nocturnal:
When I think about Nocturnal, the following terms come to mind: consistency, experience, teamwork, boo boo fart fart? Seriously, Nocturnal is a tough cookie. They don?t care about looking pretty; they just care about getting the job done. They are the Spurs of SBL.
Nocturnal finished the regular season with the best record in the league at 13-2. Their goal differential was not anything spectacular at 54 (4th best in premiership), but they managed. Their two losses came to Def#1 (wk12) and NoD (wk7). Nocturnal is currently on a 6 week winning streak.
Strengths:
1. Ball control: This squad is very good at moving the ball around and creating opportunities. They?d rather take 1 good shot than 5 bad ones.
2. Defense: Their defense is stifling, allowing a league-best 35 goals, which translates into roughly 2.3 goals per game
3. Poise: Nocturnal has numerous players who have won it all before. Dizz, Rattle, Monkey, and ST all played together on Mafia?s championship run last season.
Weaknesses:
1. Goalie: Rattle is solid and played very well against MOB, but can he do it again? Freddy?s suspension came at a bad time.
2. Offense: Out of the top 4 seeded squads, Nocturnal was the only one who did not manage to hit 100 goals; they finished the regular season with 89 total.
3. Nocturnal is a little TOO passive at times, IMO
Nation of Domination!:
On the other corner, we have the unpredictable yet menacing NoD. On paper, the talent on this team is top notch. This is a squad that was hastily thrown together and never took the time necessary to gel properly. Regardless of that, when NoD shows their top team and plays to the fullest of its ability, it is a force to be reckoned with. Think of these guys as the Celtics of SBL. :)
NoD heads into this match as the underdog, having gone 10-5 overall in the regular season. They have a 4 week win streak going, including a couple of spectacular defensive efforts: a shutout over CAH in week 16 and a 2-1 victory over the high powered offense of D#1 in the semis.
Strengths:
1. Ball control: Funny enough, these squads share the same 1-2 strengths. NoD has various players capable of being excellent field generals.
2. Defense: Second in the league in goals allowed and first in shutouts, NoD can also be stingy on defense.
3. I?m running the show on vent. That?s right.
Weaknesses:
1. Unproven: Although they?ve gotten this far, NoD has struggled with top tiered opponents throughout the season, with a 5-5 record against premiership teams.
2. Inconsistent: One week NoD will come in and steamroll any squad they face, and the next they?ll barely beat WTF 3-1. Which NoD will show up?
3. Can?t think of anything. PT and his 0-6 champ record, maybe?
Predicted lineups and player evaluations:
Nocturnal:
G: Rattle ? B+
D: Soul Tyrant, handsy ? A
M: Monkey, dizz - A
O: Novella, Terwin ? B+
Rattle is an all-around solid player who won?t make too much mistakes, but won?t be spectacular in the net, either. Look for him to make clean passes when clearing the ball and all the necessary saves in the net.
Soul Tyrant and handsy make a great duo as crease line defenders. ST has been seeing more carry time than ever this season, and handsy does what he?s supposed to do. They?re not flashy but they get the job done.
Monkey is seen by many as the top soccer brawl player in the league. He has certainly earned that right with his pixel perfect passing and decision-making. Dizz is a smart, experienced player who is great at reading plays and being in the right place at the right time. These two will have to perform to the best of their abilities to create some scoring opportunities for their team.
Novella is a veteran of SBL and widely recognized as one of the most versatile players out there. Her understanding of the game is superb and she?s a major force out on the field no matter what position she plays. Terwin aka Sephiroth has proven to be a smart pickup for Nocturnal. He?s a talented finisher who?s good at getting open for his shots, and was instrumental in their victory over MOB last week, with 4 combined goals. Look for these two to duke it out with the NoD defenders all night, fighting for lanes.
Nation of Domination:
G: ShadowNNC ? A+
D: Hellfire, Master Viron ? A
M: Gil, Blitzkrieg, Desperado ? A+
O: Meep / chris ? B+
ShadowNNC is back for round two in the championships. This time he?s not facing me so he?s prob happy about that :). Seriously though, this guy wants to win? bad. Look for him to come up big this Sunday.
Hellfire and Master Viron have been slamming the door shut on noobs faces since they paired up a few weeks into the season. Both are excellent checkers who refuse to get beat on the crease line.
NoD is mid-heavy. The squad will come at you with three of the best midfielders in the league, creating a lot of match up problems for other squads. They pressure, they shoot, they assist, they steal, they defend, they block, they do it all and do it well. Gil exploded this season for 2nd in the league in points overall, and has been a top assist man since forever. Desperado is a top shelf midfielder who, although often overlooked among the elites, is as big an impact player as any. I?ll bring the usual.
Shadow has a tough decision to make as for who to put in this Sunday: the veteran Meep, who had a stellar performance last Sunday, or the young gun Chris, who was second in the league with 41 goals. Both are aggressive forwards who are great at creating space for themselves and getting shots. Whoever plays will keep Noct?s D busy.
Conclusion:
Anyone who shows up to watch this match will get to see some of the best soccer action this league has to offer. Do whatever you can in getting the word out so we have a big crowd and hopefully attract some new players for next season. More players = more squads = more competition = more fun. Give the link to the site out and have people ?chatadd soccer for more info.
Hope to see you guys on Sunday.
Any comments / complaints / flames / questions are more than welcome. |

D#1 vs NOD Review, NOD vs NOC Prediction, posted by
Thursday, July 17th 2008
Okay, I had to write this pretty quickly as I have work in the morning, but I hope everybody enjoys. Good luck to both teams in the finals. By the way, I freaked the FUCK OUT (hand over the gaping mouth and everything) because I thought I accidentally saved over the first part of this review which took me a good hour or two to write. But I didn't. Thank God.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Game One- Nation of Domination vs. Defense #1, NOD wins 2-1
Well, nobody expected this to happen.
With 22 out of 25 people predicting for them to lose, NOD was able to prove everybody wrong by playing a great game and ending Defense?s almost-flawless season. Even with the absence of Darter in the beginning of Game One, spectators such as Kurt! and Minotauro expected this game to be one-sided- for Defense.
Boy, they were wrong.
Not even two minutes into the game, Gil is running west, turns around and checks away his assailants and then shoots it from WAY far out into the high north corner for a goal. However, four minutes after that he decides that he wants to pass it backwards right to King Donkey, who passes it up to Rien who catches ShadowNNC out of net for the only time all night for the goal.
After that, Shadow was noticeably an entire screen or so behind everybody else for the rest of the game :D
Fifteen minutes in, Darter finally arrives and everybody believes that Defense will finally start racking up some points against NOD. However, of course that?s not gonna happen, because Darter was held scoreless this game for the second game in a row. A minute after Darter comes in, Meep scores with a shot to the north for the last goal of the game. NOD wins 2-1.
Defense simply was unable to capitalize on the chances that they had. King Donkey played pretty badly the first game, seemingly making desperate shots right to Shadow and missing all of them. Infinite Loop played great, but a great defense means nothing when your offense can?t score.
Nation of Domination?s entire team, from the goalies all the way to the offense, played amazing. Master Viron and Hellfire on NOD were able to extremely limit Defense?s shots on Shadow. To clarify: Out of 13 total shots on the goal, only one was a goal, three were saved, and the rest were either saved by the defense of bounced off the walls.
On offense, NOD was able to capitalize much better than Defense could. They only had seven shots on the goal, but were able to score two of them, only having one bounce off the post as Mello saved the other four.
Okay, on to Game Two.
Nation of Domination vs. Defense #1, NOD wins 8-3.
Drekk: ?Defense will take this one, MARK MY WORDS.?
Way to jinx the team and ruin it for everybody, Drekk. Good job.
This game, everybody was expecting Defense to pull back from their loss with flying colors, but Nation of Domination stayed on top, sealing Defense?s fate and ending their season. I entered the arena about ten minutes into the game and immediately saw a hilarious sight:
Gil shot the ball, but it was pinched by Desperado, who immediately shot it but was pinched by Gil again. Revenge perhaps? Mello writes ?thank you!? but he spoke too soon, as Gil passed it north to Meep who shot it for the second goal of the game (Desperado scored the first while I was in the other arena).
Meep goes on to score three more times in the next ten minutes, making the score 5-0 at the 13 minute mark before Darter finally wakes up and scores south on Shadow. Below is running around, seemingly doing nothing to help his team. NOD?s defense is once again doing great, once again preventing many opportunities for Defense to score.
At the ten minute mark, Gil grabs the ball and scores once again. It?s at this point that I realize that Defense?s defense is almost nonexistent- it?s only Infinite Loop back there blocking now, and as good as he is, he can?t block shots against three or four guys. King Donkey retaliates immediately by grabbing the ball and making a nice quick shot to the north, beating Shadow and making the game 6-2.
In the last five minutes of the game, Defense?s defense completely disappears, leaving just IL and
Mello_Balla against three or four NOD players at a time. I have no clue what happened to everybody else, but they definitely should have been a bit farther back. Mello steps it up towards the end and saves multiple shots in a row, but it?s simply too late. NOD takes this one 8-3 and ends the #1 seed?s season.
Individual Player Breakdown
Nation of Domination
ShadowNNC- ShadowNNC has got to be the worst goalie in the history of the league. I?ve seen Killer3333 pull off better saves than this guy can. ROFL, ok, I?m obviously kidding. Shadow is Shadow, what else can you say about him? The #1 or #2 best goalie in the league, he knows where to stand and knows what to do in almost every possible situation. He wasn?t really active in the passing game as he normally is during these two games because he was caught outside the net early in game one, allowing Rien to easily lob it in to tie the game, but that wasn?t his fault at all- cough GIL cough. He didn?t make any spectacular saves or anything, but he got the job done as he always does and that?s all that matters.
Gil- For being one of NOD?s main go-to guys, Gil, the racist mofo that we all know and love, had a pretty average game. However, you have to remember that ?average? for Gil is ?great? for most other players. Between the two games he racked up a total of two goals, three assists, and ten steals. Not exactly Gil-tacular (copyright 2008 Mr. Poo) but definitely decent. He did score a sexy ass shot two minutes into the first game, checking away everybody chasing him and then shooting it from way far out into the N corner.
Hellfire- No homo, but I love this guy. His stats never show it, but he is THE defensive force in front of the net. Any opposing player knows that if they have any chance of scoring at all, they?re gonna have to get through Hellfire. Multiple times this guy just destroys any and all opposition in front of the net. I mean, check it out- he has 44 kills in game one alone. He is one of the MAIN reasons why Defense couldn?t get nearly as many shots off as they could have.
Meep- Damn. I don?t know where I?ve been, but I?ve always thought of Meep as a somewhat inactive player until I checked his stats just now and realized that he has played 12 games this season- oops. Anyway, Meep didn?t really do much in game one, but he really kicked ass in game two, breaking through Defense?s (somewhat invisible) defense to score four goals and two assists. He also tied with Rien for most steals (6) that game.
Blitzkrieg- As NOD?s main ball carrier (and the entire damn league?s main ball carrier), Blitzkrieg is THE go-to guy for any of your problems. He will ALWAYS be there (as I noticed multiple times) as a passing option, whether you?re being checked by five guys and looking for someone to throw to or whether you?re just bored and feel like randomly throwing it, this guy will materialize out of nowhere and catch the ball. I?m not kidding- go outside and kick a soccer ball into the woods, and you have about a 95% chance that some guy with a Blitzkrieg name tag will come running out of the woods with your ball. Go on- try it. Blitz does everything- in game one he had one goal, one assist, one save, four steals, thirty passes, etc etc- get my point?
Desperado- Desp played pretty decently overall throughout the two games, ending up with 2 goals and 2 assists. He was a bit sloppy in game one, making a few bad shots at the goal here and there, but he picked it up towards game two and was able to limit his fumbles while scoring more effectively.
Master Viron- Ah, MV, one of the chilliest guys ever to grace this game and also one of most underrated and unappreciated. Just like Hellfire, MV is an amazing defensive player but unlike Hellfire who is normally praised for his defensive ability, MV hardly ever gets recognized. The dynamic duo of Master Viron and Hellfire make up for possibly the best current defensive force in this league. You?re gonna have a hard time getting past these guys- guaranteed. His stats weren?t great the past two games, but he still managed to pick up a healthy two assists and six steals. Good job, MV.
Defense #1
Mello_Balla- Mello had a pretty decent game, capitalizing with 10 saves against the 10 goals that were scored against him. Obviously some of the goals could have been saved, but a lot more could have been prevented by the somewhat lacking Defensive defense. As everybody knows, a good defense goes a LONG way in what angles people are able to shoot on you and how well of a shot they can take. He didn?t grab the ball much out of the net, but he still ended up with 25 passes and 0 fumbles. Good job, Mello.
Infinite Loop- As everybody knows, IL is one of the top defenders in the league, and definitely played like it during these two games. I don?t exactly know what happened towards the end of Game Two, but I noticed that Infinite Loop was the only one back multiple times and no other defender was in sight, allowing NOD to rush the goal and score multiple times. Infinite Loop only got one steal that game- tying for his lowest ever- but you can?t exactly make many steals when you?re the only defender and have four guys rushing towards you. He still was able to capitalize on the passing game, making 83 passes and only 5 fumbles.
Rien- Sadly, Rien played some of his worst games of the season, and it definitely reflected on the outcome of the game. He had the most fumbles both games (totaling 21) with only 60 passes total, and only had one meager goal to show for it, which even then it was an open net shot. He was, however, able to pull off a decent 6 steals in Game Two.
King Donkey- Out of everybody on the team, I was probably the most disappointed in KD. This guy normally scores multiple goals a game and just runs over anything and anybody on his way to do so. Paired with Darter, they both can easily run the score into the double digits if they felt like it. However, he didn?t score at all in Game One- the first time being held scoreless since the middle of season three (although he did get nine steals). He scored one goal in Game Two which I don?t think was recorded because he left early.
Staley- Unfortunately, Staley didn?t do much during these two games either, racking up only one assist and a save. It seemed that everybody on Defense simply chose the same two games to have bad days on :P
Red Stripe- =( =( Red Stripe was another non-factor during these two games, with virtually no points on the board at all. He spent most of his time checking mofos around, trying to open up lanes for the other players to get through, but it was simply not enough because his team couldn?t capitalize on his efforts. He only played four minutes of Game Two.
Darter- Fifteen minutes into the first game, Darter finally showed up and it looked like the tide was finally going to turn. However, to everyone?s surprise and amusement, he was held scoreless AGAIN for the second time in two weeks and was unable to turn the momentum around for his team. In Game Two, he came back and scored two goals and assisted another with a third, but it was too little, too late.
Below- Below showed up a few minutes into the Second Game, but like the rest of Defense, was unable to do much against the Nation of Domination. He ended up with three saves (one in the last second where he was afk) and nine fumbles.
-----------------------------------------------------
Ignore any grammatical or punctuation mistakes, I didn't have time to proof read it. But it's okay, because you all still love me.
-----------------------------------------------------
Prediction for the Final Game
I?m gonna leave the stats completely out of this one.
Over the seasons that I?ve played, I like to think of the many squads I?ve come across as ?Good? squads or ?Evil? squads. For example, Mob is an ?evil? squad because they used to have a lot of players who talk trash all the time while still destroying squads left and right, rubbing salt in the wound. Nation of Domination is a ?good? squad because they?re led by one of the nicest guys in this league who often goes out of his way to help new players learn this game, and they also have a bunch of other cool people on the roster that are enjoyable to shoot the shit with.
Mafia, of season eight, was an ?evil? squad because in my opinion back then they were a bunch of dicks. I don?t remember why I thought this way, but I did. So as a result, after Mafia faded early this season and most of the players formed ?Nocturnal?, I thought of this squad as an ?Evil? squad. However, I was quickly proven wrong as I got to know many of the players on Nocturnal this season and they are all, even Freddy sometimes, really cool guys to shoot the shit with in public chat and on the forums and whatnot.
So now we have a ?Good? squad versus a ?Good? squad, and I don?t know who the hell to root for.
Both Nation of Domination and Nocturnal have a really good set of players, both good in skill and good in attitude. I?m really looking forward to this game, because it all comes down to this: Who wants it more?
You can have all the skill you want, but even with all the skill in the world, you will never beat out heart. And with the skill evenly matched between the two teams, I fully believe that the stronger heart will win it- and that team will be Nation of Domination.
After many seasons, I truly believe that ShadowNNC will finally get that first ring that he definitely deserves.
Game One: Noc wins, 3-2.
Game Two: NOD wins, 2-1.
Game Three: NOD wins, 4-2.
Thank you everybody and have a nice day. |

[Playoff Review] Nocturnal vs. Mob, posted by
Monday, July 14th 2008
Here you go boys and girls, two hours of my blood, sweat, and tears for your enjoyment. I will put the Defense vs. NOD review up sometime later this week, as I'm tired as shit after writing this damn thing.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Game One- Nocturnal vs. Mob, Nocturnal Wins 5-4 in OT, MVP Rattle
This game was over from the start.
Dizzeguy: ?gl mob, have fun?
With his sneaky ninja-like words of death, Dizz planted the bomb for the destruction of Mob, ending the Cinderella story?s playoff run and advancing himself and his squad to the finals.
Many people didn?t know what to expect coming into this game. Both teams came into this game off of awesome wins, Nocturnal defeating (former) top dog Defense #1 6-2 a few weeks prior, and Mob utterly destroying Blackout 20-5 in the first rounds of the playoffs. However, the most deciding factor in peoples? predictions about this game was the fact that Freddy Adu, aka One, aka Nocturnal?s star goalie, was banned from the league for five games due to forum racism. They would have to rely on S@ve, Nocturnal?s backup goalie, a decent but fairly new goalkeeper who hasn?t experienced the pressures of playoff games quite yet.
However, S@ve didn?t show up, and Nocturnal was forced to look for another option- Rattle McRattlester, the baddest snake in all the lands. Spectators were appalled at this decision, with Mishra, a fairly decent goalie, in spec, and Rattle, who before this game had only 7 saves to his five seasons of playing, in the net. However, Dizz proved once again that he knows what the fuck he?s doing leading this squad.
The game started off pretty sloppy, with both teams fumbling all over the place. Three or four turnovers occurred in just the first two minutes. I pretended that it was raining on the imaginary soccer field, with the ball sliding all over the fucking place, players slipping and sliding and missing passes and falling all over each other, their sweat gleaming on their faces, muscular bare chests heaving as they run naked all around the field- wait what?
Err.. anyway.
Throughout the entire game, it didn?t look like Mob was playing their very best at all. I remember noting that Mob was looking pretty rough, with players missing easy passes and making dumb mistakes. From the beginning, Mob looked as if they were trying to rush the ball down the field, while Nocturnal made absolutely sure to take the ball slowly down field, slow passing to each other and back to Rattle multiple times before picking the right time to strike. See, that?s where I get confused because although Mob looked to be more sloppy, they pulled off five more steals than Nocturnal while having the same amount of fumbles.
Rattle surprised everybody (except his teammates, of course) by playing EXTREMELY solid in the net, making four saves in the first ten minutes. Novella scored the first goal of the night at the 20 minute mark, and then responded by scoring ANOTHER goal less than a minute later (Assists: Dizz and Terwin).
Rockmono was playing especially bad, missing multiple shots in a row, making bad passes and missing easy catches. From my crappily scribbled notes: ?Rock misses a slow pass completely, looks like he went AFK.?
This entire game, Nocturnal had more shots on their net (18 shots on their net as opposed to 11 on Mob?s, including shots that went wide N or S), but they were able to produce more efficiently at their opponent?s goal. Nocturnal?s defense was great, forcing Mob players to shoot directly at Rattle, who made eight saves in a row before allowing anything in.
Delcor was doing great, summoning the power of his Delcor Train multiple times, running over mofo?s left and right. However, other Mob players weren?t doing quite as well on the checking aspect- it seemed that they were randomly throwing out checks, not seeming to care where they went or whether or not they landed on players.
With ten minutes left in the game, Prophecy matches Novella?s goals, scoring two in less than a minute. Bam, we?re tied, 2-2.
Two minutes later, Sephiroth aka Terwin decides that he wants to get in the game and scores a goal, followed immediately by Dizzeguy who carries the ball halfway across the field, drops down below the net and then high kicks it right over Curfew?s head for the unassisted goal- ouch. 4-2.
With six minutes to go in the game, Prophecy grabs the ball and prances right past Handsy who seems like he just let him pass without checking him or anything- IT?S A CONSPIRACY! 4-3. Soul Tyrant prevents another goal by smacking some Mob player in the face and going ?YEA RIGHT SUCKA, YOU AIN?T GOIN? GET PAST ME, NUH UH? in chat. Or something like that.
Four minutes to go. Players are remarking on how nervous Rockmono looks with the ball. However, he pulls throw and hands it to Terminator who puts it high in the north corner to tie the game 4-4. Curfew began making pretty bad passes, lobbing it outwards randomly and having it turned over multiple times. Terminator and Overdose play extremely well defense, preventing many shot attempts as the game winds down into overtime.
Dum dum dum.
Gil: ?Something gay is gonna happen, mark my words.?
Lalala, five minutes of boring overtime goes by with the ball going back and forth repeatedly. Dizz looked a bit nervous/flustered, missing a few easy passes and catches. However, his team pulled through in the end, with Monkey passing it to Terwin who scrapes it past Curfew with a quick shot into the WAYYY south corner of the net- I?m talking pixels, man.
And the crowd goes wild.
Game Two- Nocturnal vs. Mob, Nocturnal Wins 3-2 in OT, MVP Terwin
Unfortunately, due to the games overlapping each other, I missed almost all of this game as I was reviewing the Defense vs. NOD game. However, I caught the last few minutes.
I don?t know where Delcor went, but he wasn?t in this game, or at least I didn?t see him- his stats show that he only played 7 minutes, which sucks because he?s a game-changing player.
0_6, a great shooter and one of Mob?s newest recruits, showed up for the game. People were wondering just how well he?s gonna play this game after scoring 9 goals on Blackout the week before. A lot of people like 0_6, and a lot of others think that he sucks and he gets lucky a lot of times because he cherrypicks so much.
Well, the hater crowd won out tonight, as 0_6 was held scoreless with just one assist to his name this game. Oh well. Guess that?s karma when you score a pass shot on Blackout?s goalie, dick. <3
Rockmono played a little better this game, from the looks of it, scoring one goal and one assist. He finally decided to wake up with 10 seconds left and score a clutch-as-fuck goal in the north corner to bring Mob and Nocturnal into overtime.
However, it was simply too late as four minutes later, Curfew saves a shot, then dribbles it right to Terwin who seals the game AGAIN with ANOTHER pixel-scraping south corner shot.
-------------------------------------------------
Individual Player Breakdown
Nocturnal
Rattle- I think Rattle wowed just about everybody in spec mode with his surprisingly solid goalkeeping ability. In just two games, Rattle had 87 passes and only 4 fumbles to go with his combined 13 saves. Honestly, I didn?t know what to expect after Freddy was banned from the game for racism, but Nocturnal proved that they definitely are NOT gonna go down easily. Rattle definitely brought his A game through both of these matches.
Terwin- Damn. Terwin proved all of his nay-sayers wrong in this game, staying cool under pressure and sealing BOTH overtime games with two amazingly low south net shots- I?m talking these things were in by PIXELS. He came out with a combined four goals and one assist. His stats were low, but he made the shots that mattered. Good job Seph.
Soul Tyrant- ST played a pretty great game also. In each of these games, he passed more than he ever had in any game previously (combining for 113 passes, also the most for each game). He was also the series? main ball carrier overall, combining for 415 seconds total, beating out Monkey by only three seconds- he also reached another career-high record for him in the first game, carrying for 228 seconds. However, with the good must come the bad- he also tied his career high record of 7 fumbles in Game Two.
Monkey- Monkey did his usual Monkey thing this game, carrying the ball a shitload, passing tons of passes, doing super karate monkey check shit, etc. Like ST, he carried more these games than all but one of his previous games this season (208 seconds in one game, 204 in another). He had 15 steals total (10 in one game), more than anybody else. However, once again like ST, he tied his record for most fumbles in any game he?s ever played previously.
Handsy- I was a bit disappointed with Handsy?s performance, with him netting only six steals in both games combined as a defensive player. I particularly remember one instance where he pretty much just stood there on the line and let a MOB player walk right past him and score. I did see him make a few key steals in front of the net, however. Once again, like his fellow teammates, he had the most fumbles of his career.
Novella- Novella had a pretty average game in my opinion. She didn?t get the ball much, but she did score the first two goals of the series with less than a minute between them. She also scored another one in the second game, giving her three goals combined for the series. She did fairly well checking mofo?s around and opening lanes up for the other players.
Dizzeguy- Unfortunately, if I had to choose the ?worst? performing player of an All-Star team, it would sadly be Dizz for these two games. He netted 14 fumbles with just 37 passes, and only 6 steals. He didn?t carry the ball much, but like Nov, he was busy doing the ?background? work of the squad, killin? bitches and opening up lanes for the other players.
Mob
Prophecy- Proph actually came and played a few games this past weekend. He was the main offensive powerhouse of the night, netting three of the four goals in game one and also scoring one of the two scored against Noct in game two. Without Proph, these two games definitely wouldn?t have been as close as they were.
Delcor- Unfortunately, I didn?t get to see Delcor play the second game, but it looks like he left after just seven minute of playing. His first game however was damn good, typical Delcor style, with 9 steals (multiple Delcor trains- WOO WOOOOO) and 66 kills.
Defensive- Overdose played pretty well through these two games, netting himself 8 steals in one game, and four steals, two saves, and one assist in the other game. In a crew of normally-offensive powerhouses, he was the main defensive (hah, get it?) guy that NOC had to get around if they had any chance of scoring.
Curfew- I?m a bit torn on this guy. He had a combined 7 saves which is pretty good for a low scoring game, but he also made many pivotal fumbles that cost him goals. It seemed at times that he was randomly lobbing it outwards and praying for the best. One of his fumbles cost him the game in overtime where he gave it right to Terwin who turned it around one on one for the game ending goal.
Destroy- Unfortunately, I didn?t get to see this guy score as often as I would?ve liked him to. He was held scoreless throughout these two matchups, only picking up one assist in game two. I?m not saying he played a bad game, but like Dizze of Nocturnal, he was doing a lot of the ?background work?, killing off people and opening up lanes for his teammates to shoot and pass and dribble through.
Terminator- Term, a normally offensive threat, was pretty much a nonfactor during both of these games. He netted just one goal and one assist in one game, and did pretty much nothing the other game. He didn?t carry the ball much, he didn?t get passed the ball much, I was pretty disappointed.
0_6- Damn. 0_6 showed up for the second game, giving some people hope that perhaps he?d be able to turn around the game and give MOB the strength that they need to pull through. However, those people were sorely disappointed, as he was held to only one assist while fumbling 9 times, a sharp difference from his 9-goal annihilation of Blackout the week before.
Rockmono- Man, oh man. Sorry Rock, but you win the ?Most Disappointing Player of the World? award. Multiple times in my notes I had to write down just how horribly you played this game- ?Rock misses a pass completely, looks like he went AFK.? ?Rock shoots north, misses badly.? ?Rock misses wide north again.? ?Rock shoots from far out, misses.? ?Delcor steals the ball and passes to Rock who immediately fumbles.? With 17 fumbles and only one goal and two assists to show for it, I was sorely disappointed with your performance. However, the one clutch goal to turn it into OT with 10 seconds left on the clock was NICE. However, it was just simply too late to finally find your game.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[b]So there you have it, boys and girls. Nocturnal advances to the playoffs to face Nation of Domination, with ShadowNNC looking for that first SBL ring of his that he definitely deserves. I will put the review for Defense #1 vs Nation of Domination up sometime this week, as I need to rest because I?ve been writing this damn thing for hours.
J0g on guys, j0g on. Work here is done.
OR IS IT?!?!?!?!??

ESBN S9 Playoffs Semi-Finals Preview, posted by
Sunday, July 13th 2008
This is a bit late but I have a lot of free time right now being that I haven't been feeling well the last few days and am stuck at home. I put together about 5 minutes of highlights for the last meetings between D#1 and NOD as well as NOC and MOB. The week 14 match between D#1 and NOD has announcing by Dizz and is uploaded. I will post again when the week 6 OT match between NOC and MOB is available for viewing. Hopefully will be within the hour.
I also am uploading highlights of their previous meetings this season which I did a long time ago but were part of very long videos. I've cut their games out and will be uploading them. This includes D#1 vs NOD in the ET and in Week 1. NOD won both times. MOB and NOC did not meet in the ET but I will upload the recap of their Week 2 matchup which NOC won 6-0.
I'm also moving from Vimeo which I just started using to Motionbox. The first video is ready on Vimeo already so we'll start with that:

Playoffs: Round 1, posted by
Thursday, July 3rd 2008
I was going to do BOTR but have no idea what is going on with the setups and if CAH is even a squad anymore? With that said good luck to those teams and I will be rooting for WTF- to pull out the win.
Onto the first round of the playoffs that will bring us two intriguing match-ups: Nation of Domination! vs Balls Deep and MOB vs Blackout. All four of these teams are fighting for the right to move onto the semi finals to face either Nocturnal or Defense#1.
Nation of Domination! vs Balls Deep
The #1 seed in the Championship league up against the #4 seed in the Premiership league. When these teams met in the regular season Nation of Domination! worked Balls Deep, 14-0. It?s going to be a tough match-up for Balls Deep to be able to compete and contend for the full 30 minutes of the game.
Balls Deep
Balls Deep started the season off hot winning their first 2 games 5-0 vs BOT and 9-1 vs WTS. Proving their worth they were able to hang close to 2g1g only losing 4-2, followed by another close loss: 4-3 to BOT. Their next four games were up against the top four teams in the league and it proved to be a rough stretch for them losing all four matches by wide margins. They got back on the winning track in week 11 when they defeated OLE 10-4 and followed that up with the first and only Championship team win over a Premiership team when they took care of business against CAH 2-1. Their final three games they won two out of three beating WTS and OLE and losing to the up and coming WTF-.
Currently Balls Deep has a 7-7 record, 74 goals scored and 90 goals conceded. Their team is made up of an interesting mix of new players and some experienced players. If they play to their strengths and try to shorten this game as much as possible they will increase their chances of winning the game by a wide margin. They have two good offensive players that are capable of creating offense without having to set up an offensive set. Their Defense has good checkers and players that know how to play good position defense. They lack a good goalie and this is their downfall because no matter how good your defense is, a adequate goalie is always needed to properly read the lanes, clear the ball, and play smart guarding the net.
Projected Starting Lineup
Goalie: Goalie by committee
Defense: Traboski
Defense: Kurt!
Mid: Aflicted
Mid: MysFire
Offense: SpioMabio
Offense: NickMackie
Player Breakdown
Goalie by committee
Dirk Smallwood, Kurt!, MysFire have spent time in the net. Kurt! And MysFire are probably better suited out in the field, where as, Dirk Smallwood is more expendable to put in net. Kurt! and MysFire will be needed to help move the ball up if Balls Deep is going to have a chance to create scoring opportunities.
Traboski
He has 25 Caps and 1 MVP, he is a tough as nails defender that rarely misses checks. He is sporting the #12 jersey, symbolizing his fumbles divided by 3. Traboski racked up 3 goals, 1 assist, 8 saves and 56 steals. He is the team leader, and he must play well for Balls Deep to have a chance to win this game.
Kurt!
This is Kurt!?s first season in the league and he took the Championship league by storm. He is #88 on the field but #4 in our hearts; you can?t help but to root for this guy when he is out their trying to win games. He produced 4 goals, 3 assists, 27 saves and 55 steals. Whatever position Kurt decides to play he is going to have grow as a SBL player and really expand his game to match the capabilities that the opposition possesses.
Afflicted
Another first year starter for this young Balls Deep team. Afflicted was able to produce 6 goals, 11 assists, 3 saves and 39 steals. He is the type of player that needs to make sure he gets his hands on the ball, and he needs to insert himself and be able to put his team on his back when they need him to make a play. Most of his production came against WTS and OLE so he needs to learn how to shine against better competition.
MysFire
Impressive, versatile first year player who got 14 caps with 2 game balls this season, and Racked up 7 goals, 4 assists, 38 saves and 44 steals. Another player they can stick in net to get the job done but they will lose out on his on the field play that they will also need to win the game. MysFire will need to bring his A game and not play tentative, take care of the ball and make smart choices.
SpioMabio
I believe Spio has the most caps (72) that is in the Championship League. Somebody can look that up for but one would think with that many games played they would be a potent offensive scoring threat? Spio managed to get 13 goals, 12 assists and 40 steals. Spio has a decent shot and he has the capability of becoming a top tiered scorer in league, but he continues to play the same play style that produces nothing but mediocrity at best.
NickMackie
A second year player and, in my opinion, the better half in the Balls Deep offensive duo. NickMackie was able to produce 17 goals, 9 assists and 42 steals. He has a goal or an assist in every game except for the game against NOD. He is a consistent player and he is going to have to consistently put pressure on NOD?s defense and goalie without getting down on himself because Balls Deeps is going to need NickMackie to put a few in the back of the net.
Game Plan
Balls Deep is going to have to limit turnovers and try to shorten this game as much as possible by keeping possession of the ball. Every possession must be treated as if it were their last possession of the game because, essentially, it is because if they give NOD a lot of chances, the game could be over and out of reach in the early part of the game. They must keep their composure and try to limit NOD to single goal runs and not let the flood gates open at any point during the game. Every goal that they concede must be contested and make NOD work for everything they get. On the flip side they need to work the ball up the field and try to give Spio and NickMackie some clear shots on net. If they are able to work themselves into a lead they will need to close the doors and hang out because NOD will be coming with the fury of rushing attacks until the final seconds of the game.
Nation of Domination!
First off on a side note, I don?t think many people know this but NOD is the longest running squad that has stuck together since season 2. They have built up 185905 total MVP points, 377 goals, 325 assists, 466 saves, 2118 steals, 2531 fumbles, 11367 catches, 11201 passes, 9332 tackles, 8995 sacks, 47897 carry time and 12 days, 23 hours and 59 minutes of play seconds. I think this is remarkable and I just wanted to recognize ShadowNNC and the rest of the NOD faithful for what a great job they have done to stick through the seasons together and to come from the bottom of the barrel to the top of the mountain.
With that said, Season 9 hasn?t been too kind to NOD as their team is a lot better than their record shows. Currently they are sitting with the #4 seed in the Premiership division with a 10-5 record. Nod started off with a bang, taking out Defense#1 in the first week of the season in overtime 3-2. Not to be outdone when they went to OT the following week to beat CAH 6-5. Week 3 they weren?t as lucky as they faced a revived Nocturnal team that was able to beat them 6-3. A hang over carried over into the following week caused them to be upset 4-3 to 2g1g. Week 6 they dominated Balls Deep 14-0 and WTS 14-1 and revenge on Nocturnal in Week 7 as they were able to get a 3-2 victory, followed by a 12-0 shutout over OLE. Then they ran into the fast rising MOB and lost 5-2, then took it out on BOT shutting them out 11-0. Respectively beat WTF- 3-1, lost to MOB again 6-3, lost to Defense#1 8-5, beat 2g1g 7-4, and finished out the season with a shutout win over CAH.
Nation of Domination! split games with Nocturnal and Defense#1 and they also lead the league with a remarkable 4 shutout victories. Sitting at a 10-5 record, 102 goals scored, and only 44 goals conceded. NOD thrives off of their shutdown defense and opportunistic offense, their mids, defense and goalie are the strong suite with their offense closely following behind. On paper NOD looks nearly unbeatable but they have shown they haven?t always been able to bring A games to the field.
Projecting Starting Lineup
Goalie: ShadowNNC
Defense: Hellfire!!
Defense: Master Viron
Mid: Gil
Mid: Blitzkrieg
Offense: Chris
Offense: Meep
Player Breakdown
ShadowNNC
One of the top goalies this league has to offer, well rounded and capable of doing anything he wants on the field and in the net. Shadow has 94 caps, 2 game balls, and he produced 2 goals, 2 assists, 51 steals and 62 saves. This game Shadow will probably only have to make 3-4 key saves to keep Balls Deep off the score board and, more importantly, diminish the hopes and dreams of the Balls Deep members of winning the game.
Hellfire!!
A top defender in the league and he is what solidifies and keeps the foundation of NOD together. Hellfire has 77 caps and 3 game balls and he produced 6 goals, 5 assists, 3 saves and 45 steals. More importantly he gives NOD solid consistent defense and ball control during the course of the game.
Master Viron
MV can be reached at chinky414@yahoo.com (lol) and he is an under-the-radar type player that is a very good defender. MV is experienced with 70 caps and 3 game balls and this season he managed to score 7 goals, 6 assists, 1 save and get 62 steals, smart player that won?t make any costly errors but also won?t take very many chances.
Gil
Nod?s season was in-and-out of the water and at times looked like they were going to drown. Every time they submerged under the water and looked like they were going to drown Gil became the primary breathing source and kept the survival of Nod?s season going. Getting his teammates involved and scoring when nobody else could, Gil did it all this season producing 19 goals, 36 assists, 1 save and 87 steals. He does the bulk of playmaking and ball carrying and it?s for good reason because good things happen when he is creating for his teammates.
Blitzkrieg
Blitz?s history speaks for itself: 4 SBL championships, 3 time MVP, 2 time best defender, and 2 time best leader. Blitzkrieg is 63-18 playing in SBL and has proven time and time again that he is a winner. This season he was able to get 7 goals, 13 assists, and 59 steals. This is the type of player that has to be killed or taken out, he?s not the type that will roll over and die, he is mentally tough and knows when and how to make plays happen.
Chris
Chris has slowly evolved himself into an offensive juggernaut for NOD. Last season he earned his spot and this season he is taking the next step to an all star level. He had 37 goals, 11 assists and 63 steals. He has a good shot in both north and south corner and can shoot on a dime so it makes him difficult to read and defend. Chris will have to step up throughout the playoffs but he will defiantly score a few goals this game.
Meep
Meep tends to get shut out during games and doesn?t insert himself enough. NOD will need him to step up and take some pressure off of Chris and Gil because he should get some open shots if he continues to initiate himself into the action. Meep had 14 goals, 7 assists and 49 steals.
Game Plan
For Nation of Domination! to win this game they can?t look ahead, they need to focus on Balls Deep and defeat them before they can move on. They will be able to win with pure talent and shouldn?t have to get fancy or do anything special, just line up and take them on head-on. It will be important for them to impose their will and not beat themselves and force Balls Deep to work for everything they get.
Prediction
As much I would want to say Balls Deep has a chance, they don?t. It?s a good experience for these Championship teams to get a chance to play in the playoffs vs the better teams in the league but they just don?t have the fire power to compete with these teams yet. Nod is going to control the game, control the ball, get a massive amount of shots on net and unless the goalie can make 20 legit saves they are going to get blown out of the water. I look for Gil to stroll around with the ball looking for creases in the defense to feed cutters for scoring opportunities. Nods defense will just stand stout and stop the valiant efforts Balls Deep will try to throw at them. Hopefully the game doesn?t get too out of hand but maybe Nod won?t be playing at a high level and will have a let down?
Balls Deep 1 - 12 Nation of Domination!
MOB vs Blackout
This match-up is more intriguing than the other match because there regular season meeting was a close 4-1 and both teams are better at this point coming into the playoffs. MOB has defiantly made more strides to becoming a top contender in this league but BOT has had ups and down this season and right now they are on the rise.
Blackout
Blackout is a team that was on the cusp of making the Premiership and being in the Championship league. A reality check came in the first week when they lost to Balls Deep 5-0. They came back strong beating OLE 17-4, but then were destroyed 17-3 by Defense#1, and then getting revenge on Balls Deep scraping out a 4-3 victory. Bot then an 8-5 loss to CAH, a 4-1 loss to MOB, leading into a 12-1 win over WTS, then back to back losses in week 10: 11-0 to NOD, and 11-4 to 2g1g. Nudged out wins vs WTF- 3-2 and OLE 4-3. Shutting out WTS in week 14 6-0 that lead up to the late game collapse vs Nocturnal 5-4 in OT. Then they finished the season with a 2-1 win over WTF-.
Blackout had a lot of ups and downs, players coming and players going this season. They should feel good about there late season performance against Nocturnal and also their performance against a rising team like WTF-. Bot has a 7-7 record with 65 goals scored and 75 goals conceded. What gives them a better chance for an upset is they have a goalie with a good supporting defense in front of them.
Projected Starting Lineup
Goalie: Mr. Poo
Defense: Jello
Defense: Zeebster.
Mid: Mecca
Mid: oo
Offense: PeterDLai
Offense: Dice-k
Player Breakdown
Mr. Poo
Solid goalie who is going to make good reads and save some shots that seem un-savable. Poo had 47 saves during the season and he only had 4 saves during the first meeting between Mob. I predict that Poo is going to have to make close to 10 or more saves to keep his team in striking distance for a win.
Jello
J E L L O, Jello is a unique individual he has been around the league here and there but he has only sustained a full season of play this season and partially last season. Jello had 7 goals, 1 assist, 3 saves, and 61 steals. With Jello he is going to give you solid defense, accurate and effective checking, and smart precise decisions throughout the game. He is going to have to step up and help out a little more on offense and still get back on defense for Bot to pose a bigger threat.
Zeebster.
I like the idea of this guy moving back to defense because he has a good source of lag and he is good at maintaining possession of the ball, which will be very important because they need to capitalize on all turnovers they get from Mob. Zeebster had 6 goals, 2 assists, and 35 steals. I believe he can play back on D effectively and push up to help out the offense and the transition game.
Mecca
Mecca is the X factor that holds this team together. He claims himself to be a triple threat, this season he had 12 goals, 14 assists, 8 saves and 52 steals. Mecca is going to be at the top of his game both playing wise and in the leadership role. He is going to have to step up and make his shots because his opportunities will be scarce.
oo
At the beginning of the season this guy was a cancer for his team, now he is a juke machine that jukes his way out of the worst of predicaments. His numbers, 4 goals 5 assists 34 steals, don?t speak for what he has progressed to as a player in the later weeks of the season. Anytime someone has good lag and can use that to their advantage they can be good.
PeterDLai
PeterDLai, formally apart of WTF-, is going to help BOT on the offensive end of the field. Peter had 19 goals, 5 assists and 53 steals on a team that thrived off of his production, now he is on a team that can match his offensive play and intensity. Look for PeterDlaizzle to get a goal north corner at the 19 minute mark.
Dice-k
A public and SBL league favorite right here. Nobody takes public games as serious as this guy and I can only imagine what he says during SBL matches. Dice was a recent recruit from another squad and he managed to get 4 goals and 4 assists this season. Dice K likes the method of carrying the ball up the field instead of passing up. There is more than one way to skin a cat I guess and it is what he does and in theory it should work well for BOT.
Game Plan
The game plan is simple: Limit Mob?s opportunities. If Mob is just taking pop shots on Mr. Poo the entire game then Bot is going to lose, but if Bot can limit Mob to about 10-12 decent shots I believe Mr. Poo is capable of saving the majority of those shots. Being patient will be key because Mob will press and make mistakes because they are a passively-aggressive team. All in all Bot needs to take care of the ball, try to work the ball into the zone for good scoring chances, and limit the shots their net.
MOB
Mob is a team that has progressed throughout the season into contention. Mob started their season off with a solidifying victory over 2g1g, 4-3, followed by a tough shutout loss to Nocturnal 6-0. In week 4 Mob defeated Ole 13-1 then in the following week beat WTF 7-2, that lead up to the rematch Nocturnal where they lost in OT 3-2. Week 7 Mob faced Blackout and beat them 4-1 and in Week 8 they managed to lose to Defense#1 9-7 after spotting them an early 4 goal lead. This was the week where Mob knew they could contend with the top ranked squads and after they defeated Nod 5-2 in week 9 it made it more evident. Mob would not lose another game for the rest of the season as they steam rolled through the rest of their schedule: 10-3 over Balls Deep, 6-5 over Defense#1 in OT, 27-2 over WTS, 6-3 over Nod, 9-3 over Cah, 9-6 over Cah, and 11-2 over 2g1g.
Mob is a well-rounded team and has a lot of depth that they accumulated over the course of the season. They grew together and now their confidence is riding high. It?s going to be interesting to see who they start and play during their games because they have so many likely candidates that are more than capable of getting the job done.
Projecting Starting Lineup
Goalie: Structure
Defense: Defensive
Defense: Terminator
Mid: Delcor
Mid: Rockmono
Offense: Destroy
Offense: Gatusso
Player Breakdown
Structure
Structure is a very solid goalie that came onto the scene last season with his entourage of saves. This season has been different for him because he is now on a team that is competitive and the situations become more pressure filled. He hasn?t played much this season but he has 35 saves in just 7 games. Structure is going to have to be on his game not only in this game but throughout the playoffs for Mob to complete their Cinderella run.
Defensive
The captain and mediator of the team. OD stays back as the last man back and he does a very good job at staying disciplined and not getting too irresponsible and pushing up. OD had 4 goals, 1 assist, 9 saves, and 55 steals this season. He is going to have to step up and play a bigger role in the playoffs because teams are going to be putting more pressure.
Terminator
This team basically plays everybody up with just one guy back so Terminator gets to go up on offense and do his thing. He has 23 goals, 6 assists, 10 saves, and 49 steals this season. Terminator plays a great crease defense and it works out well because he is still able to push up and help out the offense because OD stays back. Terminator is just a rookie but he plays like a veteran at times, we?ll see if he can continue the trend.
Delcor
Delcor is the intimidation factor for Mob, when you game plan for Mob Delcor is going to be one of the key aspects to stop or contain. Delcor has played limited time this season but still was able to score 7 goals, 21 assists, and 44 steals in just 8 games. Delcor is wearing #4 and I have no idea why, maybe that is how many compartments are on the Delcor train? I have no idea.
Rockmono
Rockmono my rookie of the year last season has not disappointed anybody with his production this season: 18 goals, 21 assists, 1 save and 58 steals. He has emerged himself as a star caliber player in just 2 seasons. Last season he played a role position, this season he is going to have to be a leader and carry his team to a championship. Only time will tell if Rockmono is capable of doing this.
Destroy
Newly added recruit to help bolster their already top notch scoring offense. Destroy is a very quiet, deadly assassin type that likes to win and hates losing. He started off on Nod then went to Bot then to 2g1g then finally ended up on Mob. Through all of that he managed to get 11 goals, 14 assists, 1 save and 57 steals. Destroy is a seasoned player and has been around and will give that much needed experience that lacks in a lot of the players on Mob.
Gatusso ? I don?t know if Gatusso will start if he shows or not, maybe 06, z or blazed will start in front of him I don?t know. On paper Gatusso is the better player and he has that capability of scoring from anywhere on the map in striking distance. This season he played in 2 games and had 5 goals and 3 assists. It won?t matter as much this game, as it will in the semi?s and possibly championship, who plays in the 7th slot because Mob has good depth.
Game Plan
Mob?s game plan should be to put the pressure on and shoot, shoot, shoot. The overwhelming method should be good because Mob is the type of team that is good at quick shots and they are more likely going to score on quick shooting than trying to work the ball into the net. Other than that they have to make sure they get back on defense with numbers and try to limit as many fast break opportunities as possible. Basically do not give up anything easy.
Prediction
Another match-up where I wish I could have the confidence to pick the upset and even though I think if an upset does happen, this is the game it would be in, I just don?t think it?s going to happen. I believe this game will be close, especially, in the early part of the game, but Mob will prove to be too much to handle and pull away in the end.
Blackout 2 - 8 MOB
* Good luck to all of the teams in the playoffs and good luck to all of the teams in the BOTR * |

Freddy's Season Awards, posted by
Wednesday, July 2nd 2008
These awards are my views and opinions and should only be looked at as: I recognized you for your efforts, abilities, and in my eyes quality production. I separated Championship League and Premiership league into different award categories.
Premiership
Most Valuable Player
Gil
This was a tough choice for me because there are a lot of deserving candidates (Monkey, Darter, IL, Delcor) but I feel Gil went widely unnoticed, as a whole, this season. The only knock I have on Gil, which maybe is the reason why he didn't get many votes in the voting, is he was only 10-5 this season. Gil lead the league with 36 assists this season which, I believe, is the most in SBL history. He also had 19 goals which tied him for 10th on the list, and 3rd in total points (Goals + Assists) with 55. He was 3rd in the league with 87 steals, 5th in the league with 446 passes, 7th in Carry time with 1669CT, and 6th in MVP points with 8523. He was able to do all of this on a team that needed all of his efforts to make the playoffs, Gil was able to shine on a not so impressive regular season for Nation of Domination.
Best Offense
Darter
With Darter I have high expectations for him, so when he produces crazy like numbers they just seem in the "norm" for him. This season, however, Darter ranked #1 in goals with 44 and #3 in assists with 24. When I think about Darter I think about consistency, discipline, and production. This season he was incredibly consistent and produced every week for his team. Darter could be a lock to win Best offense and MVP every season and people wouldn't say a word about it.
Best Offense Supporter
King Donkey
King Donkey and every other offensive player have been in Darter's shadow. KD is considered to be, arguably, the second best offensive player in the league. This season he has been in Darter's shadow even more being on his squad. He was able to produce a 2nd best 56 points while being tied for 3rd in goals scored with 35, and tied for 4th in assists with 21. He produced these numbers while being the second option and sometimes even being the 3rd option with the ever so lightweight Rien pushing up to take snap shots.
Best Mid
Monkey
It's easy to see why Monkey won the MVP award this season because he is a huge part of a team that had the best record this season. The special part about Monkey is that he doesn't have to produce assists or goals to LOOK productive in the game. If someone wants to mirror a mid player, Monkey would be the best candidate. Nobody plays the field like Monkey does. Monkey initiates himself on the offensive end of the field, the transition of moving the ball up the field, and the defensive side of the field, and he is extremely good at all of these areas. His stats speak for themselves: 10 goals, 30 assists, 70 steals, 675 passes, 2207 carry time with only 62 fumbles. It's remarkable the numbers Monkey was able to produce on a team that thrives off of his support and ability.
Best Defender
Infinite Loop
It's hard not to pick a defender from the teams that have given up fewer goals than Defense#1, but IL had to hold down the fort, so to speak, as the rest of Defense pushed up trying to score goals. Not to mention he had different goalies behind him throughout the season. I could say the same for Soul Tyrant but ST only played 10 games. IL is a type of player that someone would want on their team because he gives them a foundation on the defensive side of the ball because with IL you know that he is always going to be in good position to make plays.
Best Goalie
ShadowNNC
ShadowNNC played 15 games in net, had a 10-5 record and only let in 44 goals. Which is, those of you slow in math, 2.9 goals conceded per game. He had a Premiership leading 62 saves which is 4 saves a game. He was able to score 2 goals and 2 assists. Overall ShadowNNC had the best productive over the longevity of the season.
Honorable Mentions
Curfew - 11 games played, really stepped up and played multiple positions this season.
Rockmono - 18 g 21 a, really proving his worth and allstar ability to this league.
Defensive - 13 games played, solid last man back defender, good disciplined player.
Terminator - 23 g 6 a this is my rookie of the year, looking forward to watch his progression.
Blitzkrieg - 11 games played, solid on the field leadership - 7 g 13 a
Chris - 37 g 11 a , very strong and up and coming offensive player
Master Viron - Solid defender, great checker, opportunistic shooter and passer. 7g 6a
Meep - 14 g 7 a , solid shooter and another offensive player with good potential.
Hellfire!! - The rock and foundation for the second best defensive team in the league.
the $not - One of the only bright spots to a very disappointing CAH season.
Succuba - 13 g 17 a in 11 games, could be a good player with a better attitude.
A - 33 g 16 A , good production for one of the best shooters in the league.
Choc - 20 g 15 a, first full season in the league produced like a veteran.
Vanishing - Under rated player who is judge by character and not ability on the playing field.
Dizzeguy - 21 g 15 a, solid season for an old man playing with bad knees and an aging back.
Novella - Forced to play multiple positions this season, but she is used to it..10g 6a
Rattle - 12 g 13 a , in a 11 games, solid player with a variety range of excuses
Soul Tyrant - 1 g 5 a, progressing passer and ball control player, upgrading his LMB status.
Below - 9 g 17 a, in 10 games surprisingly production for a greasy player
Mello Balla - 1 g 7 a 24 saves, playing multiple positions in 12 games
Rien - 35 g 19 a playing multiple positions and playing in multiple dress sizes.
Rob Zomby - 5 g 3 a 12 saves playing multiple positions in 11 games. 34 steals only 22 F
*All of these players had 10 games or more this season, all of which I want to recognize for their performances during the SBL regular season. *
Championship League
Most Valuable Player
Kurt!
Kurt did a little bit everything this season. He had 4 goals, 3 assists, 27 saves and he had 55 steals with only 30 fumbles. His team had the #1 seed in the championship league and the only championship team to beat a Premiership team. Kurt! is a new player to this league and I believe we will be seeing more of him in the upper division as he will continue to get better and hopefully not only bring himself up to a contending level of play, but also his team.
Best Offense
PeterDLai
Peter played the bulk of his season on WTF- and was their primary scoring option. He
is 10th in the league in goals scored and also had 5 assists. He hopped teams to be on bot who made the playoffs instead of sticking with this team to finish the season. He has a good shot on net and his performance this season gives him top offense honors in the championship division.
Best Midfield
Mecca
Even though he played multiple positions, his primary position is Mid. He had, a well balanced, 12 goals and 14 assists with 8 saves. His mediocre 4/1 pass to fumble ratio is his downfall but you won't find much better in the championship league. He is able to help out on offense effectively, and be able to get back to help on the defensive end of the field. Mecca still hasn't separated himself from the mediocracy level of play and step up to a contending level.
Best Defender
NukeDukem
First season player and he really has come along nicely on the defensive side of the ball. His team gave up the fewest amount of goals in the Championship league and it's only fitting that the best defender on that team should be rewarded as the Best Defender. He could become the next hellfire!! type of player because it wasn't that long ago when Hellfire!! came to this league and became the most improved player then the rest was history after that. This guy has all the tangibles to become one of the premier defenders in the league.
Best Goalie
Mr. Poo
His team is in the playoffs and he is a big reason why, With 47 saves in 12 games. Mr. Poo reads shots well and is capable of shutting out even the best of shooters. Overall his goalie performance was the best out of all the other Championship goalies, and a lot of that has to do with his team defense put in front of him and his ability to anticipate and make reads on opposing shooters.
Honorable Mentions
Jello - 7 g 1 a 61 steals, a crucial player for bot to have a chance for an upset
oo - 3 g 5 a , really good lag, he just needs to learn how to use it to his full advantage
Domination - Solid defender seems like he is disciplined and has good positioning
MysFire - 7g 4 a , another young and talented player that should continue to progress
NickMackie - 17 g 9 a , could be very good if he dedicated himself more to playing
SpioMabio - 13 g 12 a , underachiever and needs to grow up into his potential
Traboski - 3g 1 a a very good checker, and a very good defender
life4blood. - 13 g 8 a 20 sv, very good and a lot of potential for this rookie
myPod - 12 g, 8 a another bright spot of young talent on the WTF roster.
SV - 5a , good reason why WTF conceded the fewest goals in the championship league.
Unorthodox. - 5g 4a he needs to step it up because his team is out growing his level of play.
Minotauro - 14g 15 a Versatile player but I think he could be a top goalie if he dedicated himself
Mode - 4 g 1 a hopefully he will continue to grow and get better.
this zone is stupid - 5 assists, 59 steals quiet player on OLE
SpankyPanky! - great defender, I hope he continues to keep his head and play well.
scoobydoo - great defender, didn't play much but WTS could win if he plays more.
Second Goalie - 114 saves maybe this will get him an opportunity to join a contending team.
This has been one of the best seasons in SBL history and I just hope that players will continue to play and continue to try and strive for improvement in their individual and team game because the more competitive we can make this league, the more fun it will be in the end. Thank you for reading and good luck to the teams in the playoffs and to the teams fighting for the BOTR championship. |

Public Opinion Survey, posted by
Tuesday, June 24th 2008
I got bored, and since there's a huge lack of actual writeups, you guys get stuck with me again. Live with it. Over the course of three days, I interviewed about thirty different people and compiled all of their answers to make this huge lump of crap. Enjoy.
------------------------------------
Question One: Do You Like Rien As The League Commissioner/Administrator?
27 Yes/ 3 No
Anonymous Quotes:
?No.. league admin should be someone anonymous.?
?Yes, I like him as administrator but not as a player.?
?Good admin, average player?
?Obviously not.?
--------------------------------
[b] Question Two: What would you do to improve Soccer Brawl in either the League or Public Play?
0_6: Give somebody trustworthy the ability to *kill the newbs that ruin this game
Black Stone: Ban KF.
Butterscotch: The losing team should be forced to spec.
Delcor: Have a soccer brawl only mod, someone awesome like me or Dizz to spec people that intentionally hurt the team or go afk with stuff on their keys.
Dizzeguy: Less creasing newbs and ballhogs in pub. I think the league is fine.
Eb-: The ability to curve the ball when kicked
Feelucky: In league, you should be penalized for putting the ball in your own goal.
Huaman12: Lower the energy cost of Back Pass.
Im The King: Have passes and steals give you more MVP points
Intruder: Add Back Pass to SBL. It's the player?s choice if they want to use it or not. More lag restrictions, also.
Killer3333: Ban KF.
Loop: Fewer douchebags.
Marshmallow: I?D MAKE THE BALL LOOK LIKE A SOCCER BALL
Mello_Balla: I wouldn?t change anything.
Michael Jordan: I don't know actually, that's a little too hard for me. I don't see anything I don't like with-in the zone and shit, everything seems fine.
Minotauro: Don?t allow MOB to ever mix again.
MyPod: Improved attitudes towards new players; league is fine.
MysFire: In SBL, I'd make it harder for top tier teams to take players they like from the bottom- that way bottom has a chance to recruit too.
MysFire: In Pub, they need to do something about the players who don?t give a shit and just fuck around and ruin games
Penquin: Add jumping or moving the crease line back more
PeterDLai: If it were possible, I'd probably want some sort of dive or jump function for goalies
Rajon: Increase the reward for different positions so not just shooters get big rewards.
Ric.: Increase the reward for different positions so not just shooters get big rewards.
Shanec: Make hyper use less energy or increase energy regeneration.
SV: Increase the reward for different positions so not just shooters get big rewards.
Terminator: Ban Fosterboyz from pub.
T0wel: I would make it so that when you hit the post, it instills a variable effect that makes the ball bounce crazily all over the place just to spite you
xTREAMxMEASUREx: Only allow 2-3 people in queue in hopes that people will start a pub 2. Other than that I like pub as it is.

Interview With Rien, SBL League Admin, posted by
Saturday, June 14th 2008
Good afternoon everyone, and welcome to yet another Expoosive Interview, this time with one of SBL?s own League Administrators, Rien!
Rien: Hello
Alright, let?s get this baby started. To enlighten the newer players out there in the vast world of Soccer Brawl, tell us us just how you came to become League Administrator in the zone that we all know and love.
Rien: Essentially the zone was first developed by Yankee, and shortly after he created the zone, anxious individuals had the idea of trying to start up a league. This was first done by Faetus (something like that) who created a website. He quickly hired some staff members, including Flaw, 911 Medic, and others like Arcades. I also joined them, but as a referee or something like that.
Before the season even began, Arcades and the others overthrew Fetalis (or something like that) and appointed Arcades as the Commissioner. Season one ran out over about 15 weeks with about ten squads full of problems as people left squads, squads split, etc. At the end of the season, Arcades was overthrown due to abuse (long story, too long for now) and 911 Medic essentially made it so that Flaw would run the league.
I pushed my way in and made the first post-nuke based website. The league ran from this website for Season Two, however Season Two is the first statistically recorded season because Arcades was a faggot and deleted the season because he was overthrown. My memory of Season 2-4 is slightly vague but essentially 911 Medic disappeared, Flaw stepped down and Jacque & Staley stepped up.
Jacque was ?taken under my wing? and was taught the ways of the web and eventually took over a lot of the website duties and is responsible for the current forums and website, or at least most of its features. The SBL administration has has pretty much always included me since Season Two when I was made Coordinator, which simply put, meant that I did a lot of the work that made the league tick. I was always outspoken, however, so I was not the commissioner fully until Season 7.
How much does it cost to run both the league and the site anyway, in terms of both money and time?
Rien: The website domain costs about $10 a year, and the hosting is $15 a month. In terms of time, we're talking thousands of hours over the course of 9 seasons. It takes a lot of time to maintain a league with 150+ players in it, especially when every week we need to do about 5 SID checks and 5 renames, let alone adding the games, helping captains schedule, getting referees to schedule and entering results. Thankfully there has always been at least two admins, otherwise I know the single admin would probably quit.
Here?s a question from ?r? on Defense #1. What do you think the league would be like if Arcades never went apeshit?
Rien: Personally from what I saw from him, if he was still in power we'd be in a real dictatorship. To put it into perspective, he told 911 Medic he would sue him for using the SBL rules which he claimed were his (which was wrong, I wrote 70% of the original rules and they were discussed by most staff members)
Yikes, sounds like a real dickhole. Ever hear from him after that?
Rien: Nah, he quit after he realized we wouldn?t be paying him royalties for "his" rules. Plus, he probably realized that after he deleted the Season One stats he'd never be forgiven.
Well, you?ve definitely been around a long time. What is your absolute favorite memory of playing in SB/SBL throughout the seasons?
Rien: I don't think I have just one. I often think back to the Season One days of DD and how much of a laugh it was. And when P8nt announced and the "jesting" that went on with p8nt and other players. But then again I also fondly remember the games with Mafia, Ninja Turtles and dare I forget the infamous Decisive. There is so, so many happy memories of SBL (probably justifies running the league!) so it would be impossible to pick just one. I can tell you it?s definitely not this season, if it helps :P
Actually I do have one. Back when SB was first created, me and ES (EnglandSoul) used to play this game all day when it was alive. We'd both get on and both sit at center waiting for the respawn, playing super good D together. It's a shame ES is inactive now. :(
Here?s a question from both SpioMabio of BAD and Killer3333 of WTS. What is your favorite part of SB/SBL in general?
Rien: What I enjoy most about the league is the statistics. I love the fact that every game has stats saved and we have a good history system. My favorite part about running the league is I get to see the finished end product. After spending hours coding stuff on the website or producing the schedule or scheduling games and getting referees to sign up I get to see a well oiled league machine running at full power providing hours of enjoyment to myself and others.
Do you have any ideas that you may want to try to get implemented for the future seasons? I heard rumors about another possible draft season?
Rien: I think we took a big positive leap forward this season with the split divisions and the meaningful season. Not everyone loved it, but I feel it's the best move for the league. So my initial ideas revolve around solidifying that system which includes ensuring we continue to attract new players to the league and continuing to provide them with a competitive playing field which will hopefully improve our new player retention.
In terms of new ideas, I'm currently not thinking of any just yet. I think running a game like this requires versatility, we need to be able to adapt to the requirements of the league and its player base and I feel that dictates where we go as a league. If next season we have 10 squads and the talent is spread more then divisions may not be needed, or we may split the divisions in a different manner.
As far as a draft league goes, the jury is still out on that idea. I have been considering running a mini-draft league with a unique style to ensure nobody gets screwed, but even my unique style could still cause problems. We'll see how the next few weeks go, currently we've got the ASG voting to organize and the playoffs which makes my schedule pretty full, adding on a draft specification might be too much so we'll see. I hate long off seasons, so a 4-6 week draft might just fill in perfectly.
What about Scream?s ?cage soccer brawl? idea?
I liked that idea. I produced a rough map one weekend but then stopped working on it since I started full time work. I was thinking of putting that map up after the playoffs just in SBL as a kind of trial or fun few weeks, and obviously if it was very popular I'd convince SOE to allow us to make it a full time zone. If a draft was not done, I think an off-season "cage soccer brawl" league (4-6 weeks again) would be quite fun. Of course the problem here is if you have 6 man squads you could be looking at as many as 22 teams, which would be a huge headache.
Oh yea, definitely. It might be kind of a fun idea to play "cage soccer brawl" just on Sundays, sort of something special and fun to do between games as opposed to mixing- I'm a little scared that if it goes up as a full time zone and getspopular, the population will split between ?cage? SB and regular SB.
Rien: Yeah, that would be a problem. But at the end of the day, it's not our job to decide what people can or can not play. If people choose to play cage over normal, that's their call.
What about Back Pass? Is it going to be implemented into the next season? Personally I don't use it unless I'm just screwing around. Any plans you have to make it more useful?
Rien: As for the back pass, that will be voted on again. We voted on it before and not enough votes wanted it implemented. Now we've had a bunch of weeks with it I think it would be appropriate to vote on it again and see what people say.
If you could have one feature come true in SBL, no matter how impossible it may be to do it, what would it be?
Rien: Just one? (laughs) Let?s go with goalies - I hate how they just stand there. I'd like a multi functional dive button that meant they had to dive a specific way and angle, and depending on where they jumped they could have the ball go under/over them. It's impossible on SOE Inf, but it would be nice.
Here?s a great question that I just got in from St.Stephen of WTS. Do you believe that a ?rift? of sorts exists between newer players and veterans?
Rien: Definitely. And I think both are to blame. Obviously in some cases it's one sided but collectively they're both as bad as each other. Newer players (to SBL, that is) talk and act like they know everything about the league and how to play the zone - Just look at players like Minotauro, Vanishing, Mypod, Dirk Smallwood for perfectly examples of newer players coming to the league and acting (in various ways) like they know all there is to know.
But on the opposite side of the spectrum, you have players like Below, Darter, and KF who all think that every "new" player sucks, and that they have no idea what they're doing.
It's a shame that we don't have a more united league in that sense, but I feel the bad apples from both sides represent either side poorly. I know many, many new league players who're here to play & have fun and they don't act like they're gods, and I know many vets who're more than willing to help new players.
Who?s your favorite new player and why?
Rien: That's a hard question. I like so many new players. In sense of personality, I think NickMackie (although he is in his 2nd season) is my favorite new player. In terms of skill, I'd have to go with Rockmono (once again this is his 2nd season) or Terminator.
Back to the rift between the newer players and the veterans- What about the current playoff format, with only four of the top premiership squads getting in and not the other two, even though the other two are thought of as being better than the top two championship squads?
If you weren?t administrator and didn?t have to satisfy both divisions, would you think that the bottom two premiership squads should get in after all, since in the long run they are better than the champ squads and we?ll have possibly closer games?
Rien: The playoffs are meant to be for the best squads. So if I was not the league administrator I would probably suggest the only change be that the Championship slots were removed.
I think the majority of moaning came from players who agreed with the division idea until they realized the season would not be one big warmup for them. It's a hard situation to deal with, that's for sure, but in our quest to retain new players and hopefully convert them into multi-seasonal players, it would fail if we said "play the entire season, but you won't have a chance of winning anything".
The only possible other system I would have suggested would have been separating the playoffs. Having the 4 for from each division go into their own playoffs to get a P Champ and C Champ, but that would still be a fake reward for the Championship teams who strive to become good enough to compete with Premiership teams.
I know all you win is an e-ring and bragging rights which has been dismissed as "worthless" by other players, but people play this league for fun and to win, so the Championship and the SBL title is the end goal of that.
Rien, you are thought of by many to be quite an arrogant dickhead. NickMackie from BAD would like to know what gives you so much confidence in your game play and ?trash talk?.
Rien: My trash talking is 99% bullshit. I'll say tons of shit just to make the game more fun; it makes it more enjoyable for myself and hopefully for others. I think it definitely builds up the hype. But as for my own self confidence, I just think I'm a good player. I guess I ignore my mistakes and focus on my good plays, which I?d assume most good players do.
I strongly feel that confidence breeds a better player. I know if I didn't have confidence I wouldn't ever try to juke Gil again because that kid tends to own me most of the time but my confidence makes me go back for more and I?ve actually got better vs. Gil. Confidence is key.
I?ve noticed throughout my seasons here that no matter what you say or do, people really don?t like you that much. Here?s a great question from PeterDLai from WTF- ?Coming from someone who has played less than two seasons of SBL, what is the reasoning behind why you have garnered so much hate from the SBL community??
I think there is two sides to that. I feel that I'm not hated by that many players, but a lot of people who tend to like me or at least get along with me tend to stay quiet. For example, recently with the Darter issue we had two topics full of hate directed at me, name calling, abuse claims blah blah- but when I took a recorded vote of opinions from 15 players over a range of squads, 12 players agreed with me, but the 3 players who did not voiced their opinion much louder.
But ignoring the fact that I feel the majority of my "likers" just don't post, I think I'm pretty quick to post and I don't always convey my opinions in the way I meant them. As Gil put it, I take everything to heart. If someone insults me, I don't just shrug it off like other people, I take offense and try to prove the other person wrong because I don't feel the insult or comment was fair. Enough people like me in general in my opinion, but who makes posts about how good someone is? You don't, you only make posts about someone when you feel they're doing a bad job.
When I was interviewing people to screen questions for you, I would say about 80% of the responses I got, mostly from veteran players, were questions about your weight or comments about how ?disgusting and revolting? you were. Does it offend or hurt you that the league that you run treats you in such a manner?
Rien: I think I'd be lying if I said it didn?t hurt. I do resent such comments as I feel I do enough to deserve firstly some privacy (aka, no posting my picture especially when you hunted my sister down on myspace.......) and some respect. I also don't understand why people cross over real life and the internet. If I am jesting with another player I will insult their playing ability, but their response will always be directed towards my weight, looks, or more recently my GF. I think that's disrespectful and only leads me to have less respect for the opinions of those players. I've never insulted someone else?s weight or looks and although you may say I don't want to be hypocritical, I'd say I try and be respectful in that manner.
What confuses me is players insult me and then send me a PM asking for a name change and expect me to do it - I think it's crazy that some people?s minds work like that.
So do you believe that obesity is hereditary (not saying that you're obese) and there?s nothing one could do about it, or it?s an individual?s own fault that they are overweight?
Rien: It's individual. However I do remember reading in the newspaper about scientists finding out about some "fat" gene that would define if you're fat or not, however I read that with skepticm as I doubt it is as cut and dry as that.
Each person has a different metabolism, and if you're unlucky and get stuck with a shit one you'll have to work harder to become/stay thin. It's definitely hard to differentiate between people who uncontrollable problems, and people who simply are greedy and eat too much. I wouldn't know what to classify myself, but I know I don't blame anyone but myself for my weight. It's not a sickness and it is not a disease, but it should be treated as a problem.
So, to satisfy 80% of the community?s questions at once, how much DO you weigh?
Rien: I don't know. Everyone knows I'm fat, I won't be denying that one. Last I checked, I was below 300 lbs. Dunno what that means to you guys.
Anything else you?d like to say before I end?
Rien: Not really. I've wrote enough mini-essays for one interview. I'd like to say thank you to you though, spending your own personal time to help the league is always something I applaud.
Thanks again for allowing me to interview ya, and good luck in the rest of the season!
Rien: Thanks, and you too.

Well there ya have it. Hope you enjoyed, comments/questions/responses are welcome. I lost a question that I had asked Rien regarding Staley, so when I get it from him again I'll edit the post. |

Playoff Permutations, posted by

Introduction
With the SBL regular season coming to the end it has been a very eventful fun-filled record breaking season. We've seen more goals than ever before for one team along with more goals than ever before in one game for one team (for that that matter, combined). Players such as Delcor have broken single-game records with Delcor having more assists (8) than anyone has ever before in a single game. And Darter & Succuba are not far behind him both bagging #2 with 7 assists in a single game, also this season.
Spectre now holds both the #1 and #2 spot in "most saves in a single game" record with 22 and 21 respectivly. Second Goalie is not far behind as he holds the #3 and #4 spot with 17 goals in each game.Monkey now holds the single game record for most passes with 67 and his team-mate One (Freddy Adu-) is right behind him in 2nd with 64. And surprisingly Traboski has now captured the single game record for steals to fumbles with an 11-1 steal-fumble ratio.
We've seen more players than ever before spectating SBL, and we've seen a wider range of participation with 164 different players. Far surpassing the 142(ish) previous record from season 3. We've had 11 squads participate throughout the entire season with only one forfiet which in itself is a representation of the wonderful job both the captains and the players have done in attending games every week regardless of scheduling conflicts.
With all that said the season is not over yet! We're in week 14 of a 16 week season and we still don't know more than 2 teams out of the final 6. The final 3 games are playoff games for some teams, if they lose they've lost all hope.
Playoff Permutations
Championship
Balls Deep - 19 points - WTF, Ole, Bye
Blackout - 14 points - WTS, NOC, WTF
WTF- - 6 points - BAD, WTS, BOT
Ole - 6 points - Bye, BAD, WTS
War Torn Soldiers - 0 points - BAD, WTF, OLE
Balls Deep: This team is in the playoffs. Depending on the final few games they will either take #1 or #2 in the Championship (#5/#6 seed). If Blackout drop points (we should assume they will against Nocturnal) and Balls Deep win one game they're #1.
BOT: This team is the favorite to make #2. They're got an 8 point lead over any chasing team. If they pickup even 1 point (OT loss) this weekend vs. the weakest team in the league they've secure the #2 Championship position.
WTF- This team is the only team with a chance of making it. They need WTS to get their first win ever and in regulation, then they need Nocturnal to do the business and then they have a week 16 game against BOT. If BOT somehow lose to WTS, this final week 16 game will be the decider for the championship.
Ole Out of the chase.
WTS Out of the chase.
Premiership
Defense #1 - 35 points - NOD, Bye, NOC
Nocturnal - 28 points - 2G1G, BOT, DEF
MOB - 26 points - CAH, CAH, 2G1G
NOD - 22 points - DEF, 2G1G, CAH
2G1G - 22 points - NOC, NOD, MOB
CAH - 17 points - MOB, MOB, NOD
The next weekend will shape how the premiership will be played out.
CAH: If CAH lose they're out of the chase. They need to pickup all 3 points, although an OT win would not mark them is out, they'd need the NOD/2g1g game to go into OT otherwise they'd be 100% out. CAH need to pickup all 9 of their remaining points to go to 26 points and then they need to hope NOD doesnt upset Defense and that 2g1g only wins one of its final 3 games at most. If 2g1g is able to beat two teams, or win one and force an OT then they'll probably take the final spot. If CAH make it into the playoffs it will be an uncomparitable acheivement as they are going to have to do the double on the (possibly) hardest team to beat in SBL.
MOB: MOB can secure a playoff spot with a win on sunday. A win would take them to 31 points and secure them at least 4th place. They'd probably still take at least 3rd due to their goal difference even if 2g1g/nod win out. They can still claim #2 as their remaining schedule is substantionally easier than other teams. If they're able to win their final 3 games and Nocturnal drop points against Defense, MOB will take #2.
Defense #1: Defense are the only Premiership team that is definatly in the playoffs. With 35 points and two remaining games the lowest seed this team can get is #2. One more win would give them the #1 spot (or a loss for Nocturnal).
2G1G: This team has a hard final 3 games. They face all 3 of the teams above them to simply put they just need to win to be in. If they pickup 6 points from the final 9 then they will make the playoffs, but that means beating NOD (again), MOB or NOC. This team is the least likely to make the playoffs (apart from CAH, obv) but they have all the chances they need as they play everyone above them. What also makes this team the least likely playoff contender is that if they beat NOD and NOD then beat CAH they'd be level on points but NOD would have a higher win percentage and thus go through.
NOD: This team has just as much chance as making the playoffs as anyone else. As we don't play real soccer the chances of MOB throwing out a "trash" team against 2g1g in week 16 is unlikely, so NOD might have the easier game by playing CAH in the final week. This team needs to focus on beating 2g1g in week 15, because if they do (and in regulation) they will be in the playoffs (assuming both teams lose this weekend). Even if they lose to CAH and 2g1g wins their final game they will still make it because they've got a higher win percentage.
NOC: This team is most likely in the playoffs. One win and they're in. But what will be more important to them will be the seed. They will want to win all their final 3 games to take the #2 seed, but they'll have to face Defense #1 in week 16 which has already been billed as a Championship preview (however Myself and I am sure OD and his gang of merry men will have something to say about that). Nocturnal will be looking at form and consistancy more than anything, because just an OT loss point is enough for them to secure a playoff spot, and secure atleast 3rd. |
